of the\u200d law and\u2063 of expert witnesses who \u2063testified earlier \u2063this year before the\u200c committee. \u2063He was speaking at\u2064 the outset of \u200bTuesday&#8217;s hearing,\u200c titled &#8220;Canceling \u200dConsumer \u200bChoice: \u2062Examining the Biden\u2062 Administration&#8217;s Regulatory Assault on Americans&#8217; \u2063Home Appliances.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other rule-makings extend to dishwashers, refrigerators,\u200d water heaters, furnaces, \u2064air\u2064 conditioners, \u2063and other household appliances\u200c &#8220;under\u2062 the\u2064 guise of improving\u200b energy\u200c efficiency,&#8221;\u200c Fallon said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The gas \u2062stove rule\u2062 overall is\u2064 not a sincere \u2064attempt to improve\u2064 efficiency,&#8221;\u2064 Fallon \u2062said.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200dresponse,\u200d DOE Undersecretary for\u200d Science and \u200bInnovation\u2064 Geri Richmond \u2064told\u200d lawmakers\u2064 that\u200d &#8220;there\u200c has\u200c been \u2063some\u200b confusion surrounding\u2062 this\u2064 rule.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In\u200d particular,\u2063 she\u2062 pushed back on \u2064the proposed cost \u200bincreases\u2062 for \u200bconsumers. &#8220;Today, nearly \u206450% \u2062of the \u200dcurrent\u2064 gas\u2063 cooktop models would\u2064 not\u200d be\u2063 impacted by\u200b the\u2063 rule,&#8221;
