Tommy Tuberville,\u2062 R-Ala., for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/29\/democrats-hate-that-republicans-like-sen-tommy-tuberville-are-finally-doing-their-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" \u200brel=\"noreferrer\u200d noopener\">holding up<\/a>\u200b military \u2063promotions over aggressive\u200c far-left social\u2064 policy. In\u2063 February,\u200d Defense\u200d Secretary\u200c Lloyd\u2064 Austin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Releases\/Release\/Article\/3301006\/dod-releases-policies-to-ensure-access-to-non-covered-reproductive-health-care\/\" \u200ctarget=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> the Pentagon would\u200c cover \u2064up to three\u200d weeks of\u200c paid \u2063leave\u2064 and travel for U.S. military personnel and \u200btheir \u200cfamilies for abortions.<\/p>\n<p> \u200c \u2063  \u200c<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ: <a\u2062 href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/17\/its-joe-biden-not-tommy-tuberville-who-brought-the-culture-war-to-the-military\/\" target=\"_blank\" \u2063rel=\"noreferrer\u2064 noopener\">It\u2019s Joe\u2063 Biden, Not Tommy Tuberville,\u200c Who Brought The \u2018Culture\u2064 War\u2019 To \u200cThe Military<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> \u2063 \u200d  <\/p>\n<p>Tuberville has \u200dfollowed\u200c through\u200b on his <a\u2062 href=\"https:\/\/www.tuberville.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/tuberville-pledges-hold-on-dod-nominations-if-department-proceeds-with-abortion-policy-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pledge<\/a> to\u200c place a hold on Department \u2063of \u200dDefense nominees\u200c if\u200b the\u200d new \u200cpolicy \u2063were put \u200cin\u200c place. They\u2019re \u200bnot deployable,\u200b so \u2064someone\u2064 else \u200cis going to do a second deployment in their place during this\u200b process.
