Jordan threatens\u2064 to hold Wray\u200d in\u2062 contempt\u200d of Congress if the bureau fails\u2063 to\u200b comply with two subpoenas \u200crelated to its alleged targeting \u200cof concerned \u200dparents\u200c and Catholics.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter\u2064 dated\u200b July 17, Jordan \u2064expressed his \u200cdissatisfaction \u2062with\u2062 the FBI&#8217;s response\u2064 to\u2063 the subpoenas, \u2062which he deemed\u200c &#8220;wholly \u2062inadequate.&#8221; He believes that\u200b this \u2064inadequate response\u200d has hindered\u200c the committee&#8217;s\u200b oversight\u200b efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u2062  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Of particular\u2063 interest\u2064 to \u2062the Committee \u200dis the FBI&#8217;s weaponization of its \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-supreme-court-needs-to-affirm-that-public-employees-cant-do-whatever-they-want\/\" title=\"The Supreme Court Needs To Affirm That Public Employees Can\u2019t Do Whatever They Want\">law-enforcement powers<\/a> \u200dagainst \u2062Americans who\u2063 exercise their First\u2062 Amendment rights,&#8221; wrote Jordan (<a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2023-07-17-jdj-to-wray-re-contempt.pdf\">pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\u200c  <\/p>\n<h3>Subpoenas and \u200dLack\u2063 of \u200cCompliance<\/h3>\n<p>\u200d \u200d <\/p>\n<p>The\u200c first subpoena, \u2064issued\u200c on Feb. 3, requested documents and information\u2062 regarding the &#8220;FBI&#8217;s targeting\u200b of concerned parents\u200c who \u2064speak\u2064 out \u200bat\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maryland-school-district-announces-policy-to-push-anti-racist-thinking-in-preschool-redefine-discrimination-and-racism\/\" title=\"Maryland School District Announces Policy to Push \u2018Anti-Racist Thinking\u2019 In Preschool, Redefine \u2018Discrimination\u2019 and \u2018Racism\u2019\">school board meetings<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The \u200csecond \u2064subpoena, \u200bissued\u200d on\u200d April\u2064 10, \u2064focused on the \u200b&#8221;FBI&#8217;s\u2064 profiling of\u2063 traditional Catholics as domestic extremists.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To \u200bdate, the FBI&#8217;s\u2064 compliance with these\u2062 subpoenas has been\u2063 wholly \u200dinadequate and \u2062has materially \u2063impeded the\u200d Committee&#8217;s oversight efforts,&#8221; stated Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After several \u200baccommodations, months of persistent\u2064 outreach by \u200bthe Committee, \u2064and attempts \u200bto \u2064negotiate and work with the FBI \u2062in \u200dgood \u2062faith, \u200cwe\u200d write\u200d to\u2062 notify you\u200b that if the FBI\u2063 does not\u200c improve its \u200ccompliance \u2063substantially,\u2063 the Committee \u2063will take action\u2014such\u2063 as\u2062 the initiation of\u200b contempt of Congress \u200dproceedings\u2014to obtain compliance with these\u2064 subpoenas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>The deadline for \u200dthe \u200bFBI to provide the\u200b requested documents\u2062 is set for July\u200b 25 at 12 p.m.<\/p>\n<figure\u2062 id=\"attachment_5393796\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/07\/12\/id5393796-Vaxx-Mandates-PYLUSD_1_JF_10122021-1200x800.jpg\"><br \/>\n    \u200b<figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption>\u2062  \u2062 \u200d <\/a><br \/>\n  \u2064 \u200b A waits \u2063in \u200dline while \u2064holding\u2063 a\u2063 sign \u200cwith parents gathered\u200d to \u2062express\u2064 their concerns over mandatory \u2062vaccine mandates for \u2064their children at the Placentia\u200d Yorba Linda Unified School \u2063District\u200b building in\u2062 Placentia, Calif., on \u2064Oct.\u200c 12,\u2064 2021. \u200d(John Fredricks\/The\u2062 Epoch Times)<br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<p> \u2064 <\/p>\n<p>The committee has already\u200c received \u2062some documents \u200bfrom\u2063 the \u200cFBI,\u2063 but \u2064believes that \u2064there are \u200badditional materials still\u2062 not provided.<\/p>\n<p> \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The FBI&#8217;s \u200dproductions to date \u200bhave not included \u2062material\u200d the Committee\u200c knows \u2062is, or has\u200b reason to believe may be, in\u200d the FBI&#8217;s possession \u2064and\u2064 that\u200d is \u200dresponsive \u200bto\u200d the \u2064subpoena,&#8221;\u200b wrote Jordan.<\/p>\n<p> \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>One specific record\u200b the\u200b committee wants\u200b is\u200c an \u2064email that might shed light\u200b on the \u2063connection\u2062 between \u2063the \u200bNational School Boards Association&#8217;s\u2064 (NSBA&#8217;s) \u200d2021 \u200dletter\u200b to President\u2064 Joe Biden and the \u200cFBI&#8217;s focus on alleged \u2064threats\u2062 made \u2064by\u200c vocal \u2062parents\u200b at school \u200dboard meetings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;America&#8217;s public schools \u2064and \u2062its education\u2062 leaders are\u2063 under\u2062 an \u2062immediate \u200dthreat,&#8221; the NSBA \u200dwrote in\u200d the \u20622021 \u200bletter \u200cto\u200c Mr. Biden.
