Version: 4.0.47--><div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"aplayer_app\" data-source=\"https:\/\/vs1.youmaker.com\/assets\/2023\/0718\/d46cd3e2-b21c-4b75-be08-7fc2106625f8\/audio.mp3?length=3554541&#038;duration=296\"><\/div>\n<p> \u2063 \u200c<\/p>\n<h2>Senate\u200d Majority Leader Seeks\u200d Bipartisan Support to Sanction \u200dChina Over Fentanyl<\/h2>\n<p>\u200c \u200b <\/p>\n<p>Senate\u2064 Majority Leader Chuck Schumer \u2062(D-N.Y.) is seeking\u200b bipartisan support\u200c to impose\u200d new\u2063 sanctions\u200d against\u200d China\u200c over its role \u2064in bringing fentanyl\u200b to \u2063the United States.<\/p>\n<p> \u200d\u2064 <\/p>\n<p>Fentanyl is\u200d a\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/20-million-of-fentanyl-seized-at-u-s-mexico-border-and-los-angeles-county-officials\/\" title=\" Million Of Fentanyl Seized At U.S.-Mexico Border And Los Angeles County: Officials\">deadly synthetic opioid<\/a> that\u200b is \u200c50\u2013100 \u200dtimes more powerful \u200bthan \u200bmorphine. \u2064While \u200dits potency\u2062 has made \u200cit\u200d a popular \u2062and\u200b cheap \u2063additive\u200b in other street drugs, it\u2063 has also greatly raised the risk of overdoses, contributing\u200b to tens of\u2062 thousands of deaths in the United\u2064 States. \u200cAccording to\u2062 a June <a href=\"https:\/\/nida.nih.gov\/research-topics\/trends-statistics\/overdose-death-rates#:~:text=Overall%2C%20drug%20overdose%20deaths%20rose,overdose%20deaths%20reported%20in%202021.\">report<\/a>\u200d by\u200d the U.S. Center For\u2063 Disease Control \u200cand\u2062 Prevention, there were\u200b 70,601 overdose deaths linked to \u200bnon-Methadone synthetic opioids, \u2063with fentanyl\u2064 being\u2063 a primary source \u200cfor\u2064 these \u200bdeaths.<\/p>\n<p>\u2064  \u2064<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u2064 Schumer\u200d said\u200b much of \u2064the fentanyl that\u2063 is currently in\u200b the United States comes from\u2062 production \u200dsites in China \u2062&#8221;with \u2063the total acceptance \u2063and acquiescence\u2063 of the\u2063 Chinese government.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u200b \u2064 <\/p>\n<p>At \u200ca press \u200bconference on Sunday, Mr. Schumer said he would support \u200badding \u200dan\u200c amendment to \u200dthe\u2062 annual \u200cdefense\u2062 budget, the 2024 National\u200b Defense\u200d Authorization Act (NDAA), that\u2064 would\u200c declare\u200d the \u200bprevalence of \u200cfentanyl in the United States\u2063 to be \u200ba\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-to-vote-on-resolutions-to-lift-terrorism-related-sanctions\/\" title=\"House to vote on lifting terrorism-related sanctions.\">national \u2063emergency<\/a> and to \u2063sanction\u200b the Chinese \u200ccommunist regime for its contribution to this \u2064emergency.<\/p>\n<p\u200b class=\"text__text__1FZLe\u2063 text__dark-grey__3Ml43 text__regular__2N1Xr text__small__1kGq2 body__full_width__ekUdw\u2064 body__small_body__2vQyf\u2063 article-body__element__2p5pI\"\u2064 data-testid=\"paragraph-2\">&#8220;I \u2062will push an amendment\u2014bipartisan\u2014into the defense bill \u2064that will include \u200bmajor fentanyl stopping-\u200b and sanction-empowering\u200c legislation, \u2063and we will bring that \u2062bill to \u200bthe \u2064floor this week,&#8221;\u2062 he said. \u2063&#8221;I \u200dhope it \u200dwill\u200d pass.\u200d I believe that will \u2064pass\u2062 with strong \u200bbipartisan support.\u2062 And it should.
