The ban \u200dwill \u2063remain in \u2063effect for three months or \u2062until Meta \u200bcan demonstrate compliance\u200d with the\u2062 law, according \u200cto Datatilsynet.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that this \u200ddecision\u200d does \u2064not ban\u2062 Facebook\u2063 or Instagram\u2062 in Norway. Instead, it \u200daims\u200b to\u2064 ensure that people in \u2064Norway can use \u2063these services \u2062securely \u2064while safeguarding\u200b their rights.<\/p>\n<p>Meta has responded to Datatilsynet&#8217;s \u200ddecision, stating\u2062 that\u2062 the company will \u200breview it.\u2064 However, Meta claims that \u200dthere \u2063is\u200d currently \u2064no immediate impact on\u2064 its \u200bservices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The debate around legal bases has been ongoing \u200cfor\u200b some time and \u200dbusinesses continue\u200c to\u2064 face a lack\u200c of regulatory certainty\u2064 in this area,&#8221; \u2062Meta\u2064 said\u2063 in\u200d a statement. &#8220;We continue to\u200d constructively engage with \u200bthe Irish Data Protection Commission, our lead regulator in the EU, \u2062regarding\u200d our compliance with its decision.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Norway is not a member of the European Union,\u200c it is part of the\u2064 European Economic Area.
