the\u200b letter says. &#8220;The \u200bPRC has\u200c sent thousands of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-committee-has-grave-concerns-over-uc-berkeleys-china-ties\/\" title=\"House committee concerned about UC Berkeley's China connections.\">military scientists abroad<\/a> to gather scientific-military know-how, obtain\u2064 sensitive \u2063details regarding \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/university-of-michigan-demands-1200-for-china-documents\/\" title=\"University of Michigan Demands ,200 for China Documents\">research projects<\/a> and \u2062emerging \u200ctechnologies,\u200c and to gain access to \u2064American academics, their \u200cresearch,\u2063 and their \u200cnetworks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Partnership with\u2064 Tsinghua University<\/h3>\n<p>UC\u200b Berkeley&#8217;s \u2062partnership \u200cwith Tsinghua University centers on the Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute, \u200ba \u2064joint\u2062 research institute that \u2063involves the \u200bShenzhen\u200d government. \u2062The institute marks one\u2063 of the \u200cclosest collaborations\u200b between a\u2062 U.S.-based university \u200cand\u200c China.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n\u200d  <\/p>\n<p>In \u200dthe \u200dletter, the lawmakers\u2063 noted the institute\u200c engages\u200c in technological \u200dresearch that \u2062will\u200d likely\u200c be used\u200b for\u200b military \u200dpurposes and collaborates with companies that are\u200c prohibited by the\u200b U.S. \u2064government\u2063 from\u200c receiving &#8220;sensitive \u2062U.S. \u200dtechnology.&#8221;\u200b The letter \u2062also chastised \u200cthe\u2064 school\u2062 for \u200cfailing to \u200dreport funding from the Chinese government\u200c for UC Berkeley \u200cresearch,\u2062 a violation \u200cof Section \u200b117 \u2064of the \u2062Higher\u200b Education Act, which requires\u2063 U.S.\u2064 universities\u200c to disclose\u200d funding from foreign \u2063governments.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Despite\u200d this extensive collaboration, \u200bpublicly \u200bavailable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lingering-national-guard-presence-in-d-c-costing-half-a-billion-dollars\/\" title=\"Lingering National Guard Presence In D.C.
