The media \u2064and \u200cDemocrats\u200d are \u200dvery upset that Tuberville \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tuberville-military-holds-senate-officers-45c4230a8aee5222bf32b43823e29acc\" \u200ctarget=\"_blank\"\u200c rel=\"noreferrer\u2063 noopener\">is<\/a> \u201cwaging\u200b an\u2062 unprecedented \u200ccampaign\u201d \u2062and \u2064embroiling\u200c our vital national defense\u2064 policy in the\u200b culture \u200dwar.<\/p>\n<p>  \u200d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>  \u200c<\/p>\n<h3>Biden&#8217;s\u200b Backward Perspective<\/h3>\n<p>  \u200b<\/p>\n<p>Joe Biden \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/07\/14\/house-ndaa-military-culture-wars\/#:~:text=President%20Biden%20said%20the%20hold,And%20it's%20just%20totally%20irresponsible.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" \u2062rel=\"noreferrer\u200d noopener\">claims<\/a> \u2063that Republicans \u200bare\u200d \u201cinjecting \u2062into fundamental foreign policy \u200cdecisions what in fact is\u200c a domestic \u2062social \u2062debate \u2064on\u200b social\u2062 issues is \u2063bizarre,\u201d which is \u201ctotally \u200birresponsible.\u201d\u2064 While\u2064 I \u2064don\u2019t \u2063know \u2062much about \u200bTommy\u200d Tuberville, the president has it backward. \u200dIt was Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, \u200bnot any\u200b Republican, who broke with\u200c 45\u2064 years \u2062of \u2063policy last\u200d year\u200c by instituting effective reimbursements for elective abortions \u200bby military and dependents. It\u200b is \u200bjust \u200bas true to say, \u2064probably \u2062truer,\u2062 that the president is the\u2063 one holding \u200dup \u2062military\u200d promotions by \u200dunilaterally trashing\u200b policy\u2062 that has \u200cbeen in\u2062 place\u2064 since \u200b1980.<\/p>\n<h3>The\u200d Radical Shift in \u2062Politics<\/h3>\n<p>One of\u2062 the implications of\u2063 most stories \u200bcovering \u200bthe military \u2063hold debate illustrates \u200bthe radically\u200b rightward shift and unprecedented\u2063 fanaticism\u2063 of\u2064 Republican politics.\u200c This, too, is \u200dbackward. Biden, who\u2064 supported the Hyde Amendment, \u2063a law banning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/calif-officials-say-10-of-states-unemployment-payments-linked-to-fraud\/\" title=\"Calif. officials say 10% of state\u2019s unemployment payments linked to fraud\">federal funds<\/a> to pay for abortion, from 1976-2019, is an exemplar \u200dof the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-joe-biden-not-tommy-tuberville-who-brought-the-culture-war-to-the-military\/\" title=\"Joe Biden, not Tommy Tuberville, initiated the military 'culture war'.\">hard-left \u200ccultural lurch<\/a> of \u2064the\u2063 modern\u2064 left.<\/p>\n<p> \u200b \u200d<\/p>\n<h3>Biden&#8217;s \u200bHistory of Anti-Abortion Stance<\/h3>\n<p>\u2062  <\/p>\n<p>Biden had not merely\u2063 gone along with\u200d the\u200b Hyde\u200b Amendment \u200das a means\u200d of compromising\u200b with \u2064Republicans back in the\u2062 \u201980s and \u201990s. Until the past \u2063couple\u200b of\u2063 decades, the \u2062abortion \u2062debate\u200b wasn\u2019t\u2062 neatly divided\u2062 by party, and Biden,\u2063 purportedly a \u200bdevout Catholic, had \u2063to\u2062 keep conservative working-class\u200d Delawarean voters happy. In \u200b1994, the future president wrote \u2062a \u2062letter \u200dto\u200c a constituent <a\u200c href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/6127592-biden94letter.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bragging<\/a> that \u200che \u2062had \u200dvoted\u2064 against abortion\u2064 funding \u2063on\u2063 50 occasions<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Like \u2063most things\u2064 Biden says, this \u200cwas\u200b probably\u200d <a \u2062href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/08\/heres-the-full-list-of-every-lie-joe-biden-has-told-as-president-part-three\/\"\u2064 target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">untrue<\/a>.\u2063 But \u2063he \u2064did\u2063 vote \u2062<a \u2062href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_lists\/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=103&#038;session=1&#038;vote=00295\" target=\"_blank\"\u2063 rel=\"noreferrer\u200d noopener\">to save<\/a> \u2063the \u2062Hyde Amendment \u200brepeatedly \u200cover the \u2063decades. \u2063Biden also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/6127591-biden77letter.html\"\u200c target=\"_blank\"\u200b rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voted<\/a>\u200b against\u2064 allowing Medicaid\u2064 to fund \u200cabortions, even \u2063for\u2062 victims of rape and incest.\u2063 He\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/votes\/97-1982\/s841\" target=\"_blank\" \u2063rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supported<\/a> a\u2063 Jesse Helms amendment \u2063that\u200c <a\u200c href=\"https:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/votes\/97-1982\/s841\" target=\"_blank\"\u2063 rel=\"noreferrer\u2063 noopener\">would have<\/a> prohibited using federal funds \u200dfor abortions and abortion \u200dresearch\u200d or training.\u200c Biden voted numerous times \u2062to\u2062 prohibit the Federal\u2063 Employees Health\u200d Benefits\u200c program\u2062 from <a href=\"http:\/\/digitalcollections.library.cmu.edu\/awweb\/awarchive?type=file&#038;item=554133\"\u2062 target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\u200d noopener\">funding<\/a> abortions for\u200c government\u200c workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2062  <\/p>\n<p>Indeed,\u2064 Biden\u200d was constantly \u201cinjecting into \u2064fundamental \u200dforeign policy decisions what in fact is a domestic social \u200cdebate on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/facebook-bans-gop-account-allows-inflammatory-dnc-ads\/\" title=\"Facebook bans GOP account, allows inflammatory DNC ads\">social issues<\/a>.\u201d\u200b He didn\u2019t\u2064 merely support \u2063banning\u2063 public\u200c funding \u200dfor abortion in the United \u2062States;\u200d he \u200b<a \u2064href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/03\/29\/us\/politics\/biden-abortion-rights.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> an \u2062amendment to Foreign Assistance Act \u2014 for \u2062years, \u200creferred\u200b to\u200c as the \u201cBiden\u200d amendment\u201d \u2014 that \u200bbarred\u200b U.S. foreign\u200d aid \u2062from\u200b being used in \u2062any\u2064 research related to abortions. In \u200b1984, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/CHRG-107shrg75604\/html\/CHRG-107shrg75604.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supported<\/a> the\u200b \u201cMexico City\u2064 policy,\u201d banning federal funding for private organizations \u200dthat provide\u2063 abortion,\u2064 advocate \u2064to\u200c decriminalize\u200b abortion,\u2062 or\u200c expand abortion \u200cservices.<\/p>\n<p> \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>Even on June \u20645, \u20632019,\u2064 not\u200c long\u200d after \u2063his 2020\u200d presidential campaign kickoff, \u2063Biden publicly \u2062reaffirmed\u200c his <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/joe-biden-supports-hyde-amendment-splits-2020-dems\/story?id=63506190\" \u200ctarget=\"_blank\" \u200crel=\"noreferrer\u200d noopener\">support<\/a>\u2062 for\u2063 the Hyde Amendment. \u200c<em>The \u200dvery next day<\/em>,\u2063 after some criticism from primary opponents, the spineless candidate changed\u2063 his position\u2063 and \u2063\u201c<a \u2062href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/06\/06\/us\/politics\/joe-biden-hyde-amendment.html\" target=\"_blank\"\u2064 rel=\"noreferrer\u2062 noopener\">denounce[d]<\/a>\u201d\u2062 the Hyde Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>  \u200b<\/p>\n<h3>Public Opinion\u200b on Abortion\u200d Funding<\/h3>\n<p> \u200b <\/p>\n<p>For \u2063what it\u2019s worth,\u200b virtually every poll on \u200cthe question\u2063 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-official-announces-legislation-to-protect-national-anthem-in-wake-of-nba-controversy\/\" title=\"Texas Official Announces Legislation to \u2018Protect\u2019 National Anthem in Wake of NBA Controversy\">public funding<\/a> for\u200b abortion,\u200d even\u200d ones \u200bthat \u2063offer a\u200d misleading framing\u200d of \u2063the \u2062issue, find \u200dmost\u200c Americans\u200c <a \u2064href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/poll-strong-majority-of-americans-back-the-hyde-amendment\/#:~:text=A%20new%20Marist%20Poll%20sponsored,while%2038%20percent%20support%20it.\" target=\"_blank\" \u200crel=\"noreferrer noopener\">support<\/a>\u200d banning\u200c taxpayer\u2064 funding for abortions.\u200b Poll support doesn\u2019t\u200b mean \u2064much in my\u2063 book,\u200b but it does\u200b put to\u2064 rest \u2063the idea that \u200bTuberville is\u200c taking on some kind\u2063 of\u2063 fanatical \u2062position outside the mainstream.<\/p>\n<p> \u2063 <\/p>\n<h3>Biden&#8217;s \u2063Controversial \u200dStance on State-Funded\u200d Abortions<\/h3>\n<p>Then\u2064 again, \u2063today, \u200dBiden, the\u200c man who\u2064 twice voted for partial-birth \u2064abortion bans \u200band once\u2063 supported \u2062overturning <em>Roe v. \u200dWade<\/em>, \u2063backs state-funded\u200c abortions on \u200bdemand from \u2064conception \u200dto crowning for any reason,\u2064 including\u200b <a \u2062href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2017\/08\/16\/icelands-eradication-syndrome-raises-inconvenient-questions-pro-choicers\/\" target=\"_blank\" \u200crel=\"noreferrer \u200cnoopener\">eugenics<\/a> \u200band\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/becerra-tells-congress-this-individual-never-sued-any-nuns-despite-californias-small-sisters-of-the-indegent-lawsuit\/\" title=\"Becerra Tells Congress This individual \u2018Never Sued Any Nuns\u2019 Despite California\u2019s Small Sisters Of THE INDEGENT Lawsuit\">sex-selective abortion<\/a>.
