Kremlin spokesman\u200b Dmitry\u2064 Peskov <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-backs-republican-covid-19-package-after-mcconnell-rejects-bipartisan-proposal\/\" title=\"Trump backs Republican COVID-19 package after McConnell rejects bipartisan proposal\">told reporters<\/a> on a conference call. &#8220;Unfortunately,\u200d the part of these Black \u2062Sea\u200b agreements concerning\u200c Russia has not been implemented so far, \u200dso\u2063 its \u2063effect \u2062is \u200dterminated.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Turkish\u2064 president Recep\u200c Tayyip \u200dErdogan, the \u200bgrain deal&#8217;s sponsor, \u200dsaid he still believed Russian president Vladimir Putin wanted it to \u2063continue.\u2062 The Russian and Turkish foreign ministers would talk later on Monday, he\u200b told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u200c \u200b <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2063 hope\u2062 that with this discussion, we can\u200b make\u200d some \u200dprogress and continue \u2064on \u200bour way \u2063without a pause,&#8221; \u2062Erdogan said.<\/p>\n<p> \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s foreign ministry said it\u200b would consider rejoining the \u200bgrain deal if it\u200d saw\u200d &#8220;concrete \u2064results&#8221; on its\u200b demands.<\/p>\n<p> \u200d <\/p>\n<p>The blast on the road bridge \u200dto\u200d Crimea could\u200d have a direct impact \u200don Moscow&#8217;s ability to supply its troops in southern Ukraine,\u200c and reveals the\u200c vulnerability\u2064 of\u2063 Russia&#8217;s own Black Sea infrastructure to \u200bdevices such as seaborne drones: small, \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/russia-says-it-will-shut-down-ukraines-grain-exports\/\" title=\"Russia to halt Ukraine's grain exports.\">fast remote-controlled boats \u2062packed<\/a> with\u2064 explosives.<\/p>\n<p> \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>Images showed\u2064 a section of \u2063the\u200d road bridge \u200chad come\u2064 down and \u200btraffic was\u200d halted in both directions, although \u200ba parallel railway bridge was still operational. Blasts\u2063 were \u200breported before dawn \u2064on\u2062 the \u206212-mile bridge, which Putin\u2064 ordered \u200cbuilt \u2064after \u200cseizing\u200b and annexing the peninsula from Ukraine in \u20632014.<\/p>\n<p> \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>Kyiv gave no\u200c official account of \u200dthe blasts \u2062but Ukrainian media quoted \u200bunidentified \u200bofficials \u2062as saying \u200dUkraine&#8217;s Security \u200dService\u200b was behind it.\u200c Ukraine \u200chas \u200dlong maintained that\u200b the bridge was built\u200d illegally, and\u2064 its \u2062use by \u2062Russia for military supplies makes\u200d it \u200ba legitimate \u2062target. Ukraine \u2063and Russia are\u2064 both \u2064among\u2062 the\u200d world&#8217;s\u2063 biggest \u2062exporters \u2063of grain and other \u200cfoodstuffs.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 grain deal was hailed\u200c as preventing a global food emergency when it was brokered \u200bby\u200b the United Nations \u2063and Turkey \u200dlast year, halting\u2062 a de facto \u2062blockade of Ukrainian ports\u2063 by Russia, \u200bwhich\u200d agreed to let ships pass after inspections in \u200cTurkey.<\/p>\n<p>Global commodity\u200d food prices rose on Monday, \u2064though the\u2062 increase was limited, suggesting \u2062traders did not \u2062yet anticipate a severe supply crisis. The Chicago Board \u2064of \u200cTrade&#8217;s most active wheat Wv1 contract\u2063 was\u2064 up 3.0% at $6.81-3\/4\u200d a bushel at 1056 GMT after earlier rising over 4%.<\/p>\n<p>Putin had threatened\u200b last week\u200d to walk out of the \u2062grain\u200c deal, while \u200dalso saying Russia could return to it \u200bif its demands were\u2063 met.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can suspend our participation \u200cin the deal, and if everyone once \u200cagain says that all \u2062the\u200c promises made to us \u200dwill be fulfilled, then let\u200d them fulfil this promise.\u2064 We will \u200cimmediately rejoin\u2062 this deal,&#8221; Putin said\u2064 last week.<\/p>\n<p>Western\u200d countries say Russia is trying to use \u200bits leverage over the grain deal to weaken\u2062 financial sanctions,\u200c which do \u200dnot apply to Russia&#8217;s agricultural exports.<\/p>\n<p>European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen described \u2063Russia&#8217;s \u200bsuspension of\u2062 the agreement as\u200b a &#8220;cynical\u200d move&#8221; and\u200c said the \u2063EU\u200d would continue\u2062 to \u2063try to secure \u2064food\u200b for poor countries.<\/p>\n<h3>Without Russia?<\/h3>\n<p>Russia has \u2063agreed three \u2063times in the past year\u2062 to\u200d extend the Black Sea deal, despite repeatedly threatening to \u2063walk out. It suspended participation after an attack on its\u2062 fleet by seaborne Ukrainian \u200ddrones in October, \u200dleading\u200b to a few days when\u2064 Ukraine, Turkey, and the United Nations kept exports\u2062 going\u200c under the\u200c deal without Moscow.<\/p>\n<p> \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>Denys\u2063 Marchuk, deputy \u200chead of the Ukrainian Agrarian\u200d Council, the \u2064main\u200c agribusiness \u200dorganization\u200d in Ukraine, \u2062said seaborne exports could\u200d proceed again without Russian \u2064agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If there\u2063 will be safety guarantees\u200b from our partners, \u2062then\u2063 why not \u2063conduct the grain initiative \u200cwithout Russia&#8217;s \u2064participation?&#8221; \u2064he \u2064told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>\u200c  \u2064<\/p>\n<p>Any such resumption of Ukrainian sea exports without Russia&#8217;s blessing would\u200d probably depend \u200bon \u2063insurers. \u2064Industry \u200dsources told Reuters \u2064they \u2063were studying \u200bwhether to freeze their coverage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some underwriters will look to take advantage \u200bwith\u200d a hefty increase in rates. Others will \u200cstop offering\u200c cover. The [key] \u200bquestion \u200cis \u2063whether\u200b Russia\u2062 mines the\u200b area which would effectively\u2063 cease any form of cover \u200dbeing \u200boffered,&#8221; one insurance\u200d industry source said.<\/p>\n<p>The latest blast\u2064 on Russia&#8217;s \u2062bridge to\u200d Crimea \u2064follows\u2064 months of Ukrainian strikes on Russian supply lines \u200das Kyiv pursues a counteroffensive\u200c to \u2064drive Russian forces\u200c out\u200b of its \u200dterritory.<\/p>\n<p>Unverified \u200cimagery showed \u200ba\u200d section\u200d of road \u200bon the bridge had split and was listing to\u200b one side, with metal barriers \u200cbuckled. Dash\u200c cam \u200dfootage showed drivers \u2064braking \u200dsharply shortly after the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Russian officials said a\u2062 Russian \u200dSu-25 fighter-bomber crashed into \u200cthe Sea \u2062of\u200b Azov on Monday, \u2063but the pilot ejected \u200dsuccessfully \u200band \u200cthere was no indication of an\u2063 attack.
