They\u2062 know\u200c it. And\u200d much\u200b like the\u200c Russia-collusion hoax,\u2064 the effort to destroy \u2063the Supreme Court \u200bis \u2064a \u200chighly\u2063 coordinated \u200dpartisan scheme.<\/p>\n<p> \u2064  \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>First, \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-supreme-court-ethics-scandal-is-the-new-russia-collusion-hoax\/\" title=\"The Supreme Court 'Ethics' Scandal: Another Russia-Collusion Hoax\">anti-court \u200cleft-wing activist groups cook<\/a>\u2062 up \u2062some ethics \u200c\u201cscandals.\u201d \u200bThese \u200caccusations are then \u2064laundered by complicit \u2062or credulous\u2064 leftist \u200dmedia outlets \u200dfor public consumption. Then, the \u200cbogus scoops \u2063are held \u2062up by\u2064 partisans\u200c as \u2062proof of\u2063 alleged \u200dwrongdoing. \u2063Everyone, \u2064other\u2062 than\u2064 perhaps\u2063 the \u200dmost\u2062 gullible \u2064partisan \u200bhysteric, understands what\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n<p>\u2064  \u200c \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>Each \u2063week\u200d another ethics \u201cscandal\u201d emerges, \u200done dumber \u200bthan \u2062the \u200cnext.\u2064 The stories are divvied out \u200damong \u2062numerous\u200b outlets to saturate the news \u2064and \u200dcreate \u200da\u2063 perception\u2062 of widespread \u200dwrongdoing.\u200b Some, such as ProPublica, are\u200b <a\u200b href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/09\/moral-force-propublica-under-fire-for-taking-millions-from-secret-donors\/\" target=\"_blank\" \u200brel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paid<\/a> \u2064by \u200cpack-the-court groups. \u2064Others,\u200c such\u200b as Politico,\u200c Slate, and\u2062 The New\u2062 York\u2063 Times, do\u200d it for free.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b \u2063  \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>A \u200brecent Guardian <a\u200c href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2023\/jul\/12\/clarence-thomas-aide-venmo-payments-lawyers-supreme-court?CMP=share_btn_tw\">hit \u2062piece<\/a> \u2062on\u2064 Clarence Thomas,\u200b for example, offers a\u200b good \u2064example \u200bof how \u2063all this \u200dworks.\u2064 The justice,\u2064 the paper excitedly reports, received \u2062\u201cseven payments\u201d\u2064 through Venmo accounts\u200b in\u2064 November and\u2062 December \u20622019\u00a0from \u2062lawyers\u200c who \u200dhad once \u2064clerked for\u200b the justice. \u2063Though \u2062the amounts were not disclosed\u200b \u2014 one\u200d strongly\u200b suspects the\u200c minuscule \u2064sums \u2062would \u200cmake \u2062the\u200b story even more\u200d preposterous\u200c \u2014 \u200bThe \u200bGuardian\u2063 explains\u200d that\u2062 \u201cthe purpose of each\u200b payment \u2063is listed as\u200b either \u200c\u2018Christmas \u200dparty\u2019, \u200b\u2018Thomas Christmas Party\u2019, \u2018CT Christmas Party\u2019 or\u200c \u2018CT\u200b Xmas party.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<div\u200b class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-70b4f6cb4e1464ecdfe2e693b8238a37 \u200bfdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-70b4f6cb4e1464ecdfe2e693b8238a37\"><\/div>\n<p> \u200c \u2062 \u200c <\/p>\n<p>Now,\u2063 I\u2019m going\u2062 to\u200c take \u2062a wild \u200bstab at\u200b cracking \u2063this\u200b whodunnit \u200dand speculate that\u2064 a bunch \u200bof \u200cpeople\u2063 chipped\u2063 in\u2063 for a Christmas party. \u2062The \u200bimplication that Thomas \u2063threw\u200d cases or was paid \u2063off or felt an obligation \u200dto side\u2062 with \u200cformer\u200b clerks \u2063because they bought\u2062 him\u200c a \u2062taco \u2062and a beer\u2062 at\u200d a reunion\u2063 is incomprehensibly stupid. No \u200cone \u200dbelieves it.\u200b \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>  \u2062  <\/p>\n<p>Moreover,\u200d there\u200d is not, \u200band has never been, any standard\u2064 or rule \u2062or\u2064 expectation that \u200djustices\u2063 can\u2019t attend parties with\u2063 former clerks.\u2063 Just \u2062as\u200d there is \u2063no \u200dexpectation\u2064 that justices\u200d have\u2064 a \u2063responsibility \u200cto report \u2064<a\u2062 href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/06\/propublica-exposes-clarence-thomas-he-has-a-rich-friend\/\">every<\/a> vacation \u200bthey take to \u200dSenate \u200cDemocrats; or\u200d that \u200cjustices\u200d can\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/25\/politicos-hit-on-neil-gorsuch-is-another-transparent-attempt-to-delegitimize-scotus\/\">sell their \u200bhomes<\/a>; or that justices\u2063 can\u2019t \u2062have \u2062rich \u200dfriends;\u200c or \u2064that \u2063justices\u2062 must\u2062 explain in writing \u2062why \u2064they\u2064 are\u200c <a\u200c href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/01\/the-campaign-to-destroy-scotus-is-getting-increasingly-stupid\/\">recusing<\/a>\u200c themselves\u200b from cases.<\/p>\n<p>  \u200b  \u200c<\/p>\n<p>All these \u200bhit pieces rely\u2063 on a \u200bkind of \u200cjournalistic\u2064 redundancy, one non-story \u200cpropelling the other forward. \u200bHere, for instance, is The Guardian:<\/p>\n<p> \u200d   <\/p>\n<blockquote \u200bclass=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>The payments to Rajan Vasisht,\u2063 who \u200cserved \u200cas Thomas\u2019s\u200c aide \u2063from July\u200b 2019 to\u2063 July\u2064 2021, \u2064seem\u2062 to underscore the close ties between\u200d Thomas,\u2062 who is embroiled\u200c in ethics \u2064scandals following a\u2062 series\u200c of\u200d revelations\u200c about his relationship \u2063with a wealthy \u200dbillionaire\u2063 donor, and certain \u2064senior Washington \u2064lawyers who argue cases and have other business \u200cin front of\u2062 the \u200bjustice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2062  \u2062  <\/p>\n<p>Thomas \u200bisn\u2019t\u200b embroiled\u2062 in any ethical \u200bscandals. \u200dNot one.\u200b Democrats \u2062and their allies \u2064keep \u200binsinuating, \u2063without\u2063 any\u200b evidence, that Thomas is corrupt. If \u200che were,\u200b Congress should impeach\u200c him. \u2063That is \u2064the \u2062tool\u2063 available \u2062to the \u2062Senate, and\u200b no \u2064other. But sharing\u2062 a \u2063meal \u2064with\u2064 former clerks \u2063doesn\u2019t \u201cunderscore\u201d \u2062anything but \u2063the paranoia and\/or duplicity of \u2064the\u2063 pretend journalist.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dad9e52aafa0d024ab59d9952cec37c0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\"\u200d id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dad9e52aafa0d024ab59d9952cec37c0\"><\/div>\n<p> \u2064 \u2062 \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>A few\u200c days\u2063 before the \u2064Venmo scoop, \u2063The New \u200dYork\u2064 Times <a \u200chref=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/11\/latest-clarence-thomas-corruption-shocker-he-belongs-to-group-that-helps-poor-kids-go-to-college\/\" \u200ctarget=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">implicated<\/a> \u200cThomas in a \u200cscheme to help a \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-gives-pardons-to-73-individuals-and-commutes-another-70-sentences-steve-bannon-is-included\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump Gives Pardons to 73 Individuals and Commutes Another 70 Sentences \u2013 Steve Bannon Is Included\">charitable organization<\/a> give \u2062college \u2062scholarships\u2062 to thousands of \u200dpoor kids.\u00a0Thomas, \u2064on\u2062 occasion, would\u2063 even mentor the recipients.\u2063 Most of the \u200cdonors\u200b to\u2064 this\u200c charitable organization \u200dare \u200bwealthy \u2014 celebrities \u2064and CEOs; you\u200b know, \u200dthe types\u200c of \u200cpeople\u2063 who\u2062 can afford \u200bto \u2064pay for scholarships. None of\u200d them, \u200cthe\u200b Times admitted, \u200dhad \u200dany\u2062 \u201cdirect\u201d business\u200b in \u2062front of Thomas (and\u200b even\u200b if they did, it wouldn\u2019t have meant anything).<\/p>\n<p> \u2062  \u200b\u200c <\/p>\n<p>I mention\u200b it \u200cbecause\u2062 not\u200d one \u200cof these \u2063alleged\u2063 investigations \u2064or reports has \u200buncovered \u200ca\u200b single \u200ccase in\u200b which a\u2063 justice has \u2064altered or\u200b deviated \u200dfrom his long-held judicial\u2062 philosophy to help\u200d anyone \u2064benefit, much less himself.
