min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \u2062\t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script> \u2062 \ud834\udd7a<\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>\u2062  \u200c<\/p>\n<p>E-commerce sales in India via Amazon \u2063and Walmart\u2019s Flipkart have surged in recent years, helping Xiaomi\u2063 and others expand in one of\ud834\udd7a the \u200bworld\u2019s fastest-growing markets, with\ud834\udd7a 600 million \u200bsmartphone users.<\/p>\n<p>But while \u200d44% \ud834\udd7aof India\u2019s smartphones\ud834\udd7a sales are now online, the brick-and-mortar segment remains the\u200d bigger play and\u200d Xiaomi\u2063 expects it \u200dto grow further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur\u200d market position in \u2064offline is substantially\u200c lower than what it \u200cis online,\u201d \u200bXiaomi\u2019s\u2062 India head, Muralikrishnan\u2062 B., said \u2062in\u200c an interview \u2063on Friday. \u2063\u201cOffline is where you have\u2064 other\u2062 competitors who have been executing fairly well\u200c and have \ud834\udd7aa larger market \u2063share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just 34% of Xiaomi\u2019s India unit\u200c sales this year\u2062 have come from\u2062 retail \u200cstores, with the rest through websites \u2064that have long been \u2064its \u200bdominant sales\u2062 generator, data from Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research shows.\u200c Samsung, \u200bin contrast, gets 57%\u2062 of\ud834\udd7a its sales \u200dfrom stores. <\/p>\n<p>Xiaomi \u200bplans to \ud834\udd7aexpand its \ud834\udd7astore network beyond the\ud834\udd7a current 18,000 and increasingly partner \u200bwith phone vendors to \u2064offer other products, \u2062such \u200das\u200c Xiaomi TVs \u200dor security \u2062cameras,\ud834\udd7a where Muralikrishnan said\u200c competition is less \u2064intense.\u200c <\/p>\n<p>\ud834\udd7a <\/p>\n<p>He\u200c said\ud834\udd7a Xiaomi \u200cfound \u2064some \u2062partner stores that\u2064 put its bright orange \ud834\udd7abranding \u2063outside shops\u2063 were displaying rival brands more prominently inside,\u2062 a marketing \u2063issue\u2062 the company\ud834\udd7a would\u200b address.<\/p>\n<p>Xiaomi\u2019s\u200b offline push\u2062 comes months after it\u200b lost\u2064 its leadership position to\u200b Samsung, which had a\u200c much bigger portfolio of premium\ud834\udd7a phones\u2062 now in vogue.\u2062 The South\u200d Korean\u200b giant has a 20% market \u200bshare in India, \ud834\udd7awhile Xiaomi,\u2064 which historically \u2064focussed on budget phones,\u200d has 16%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOffline remains a\u2064 key platform as\u2063 India \u2062embraces the premiumisation trend,\u201d said\u200d Counterpoint analyst Tarun\u200d Pathak. \u200d\u201cConsumers\u2063 spending more would like to have \u2064the\u200b look \ud834\udd7aand feel of the \ud834\udd7apremium product.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Xiaomi plans\u2063 to\ud834\udd7a hire \u200bmore \u2062store promoters\u2064 \u2013\u200d salespeople\u200c who lure, pitch\u200c and \u200dsell \u2064phones to \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinas-xiaomi-bets-bigger-on-india-retail-stores-amid-samsung-rivalry\/\" title=\"Xiaomi expands India retail presence to outshine Samsung rivalry.\">prospective buyers\u200d inside outlets<\/a>. It targets tripling the count \u200cto \u200c12,000 promoters\u2063 by\ud834\udd7a the end of next year \ud834\udd7afrom early 2023 levels, Muralikrishnan\u2063 said.\u200b <\/p>\n<p>Another significant India challenge \u2062for \u200bXiaomi \u2062is \u2064a\u2063 federal \u2063agency\u2019s\u2063 $673 million freeze on its bank \u200dassets \ud834\udd7asince last year.\u2063 The agency alleges Xiaomi made\u2064 illegal remittances\u200b to \u200cforeign entities in the name \u200dof\u2063 royalties.
