min-height: 50px; \u200c text-align: center;\">\u2063 \u2063 \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<p> \u200c <\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p> \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>\u200d   <\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 document means \u200dthe investigating commission would hand over\u2064 its\u200c files to \u200dthe Swiss Federal\u200c Archives\u200b after\u2063 a longer \ud834\udd7agap \u200bthan\u200d the\u2062 usual 30 \u2064years to ensure \u2062high \u200dlevels of confidentiality apply \u200cto \u200dthe\u200b investigation, which \u2062has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/credit-suisse-inquiry-will-keep-files-secret-for-50-years\/\" title=\"Credit Suisse inquiry to keep files confidential for 50 years.\">generated huge public \u2062interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u200d <\/p>\n<p>The\ud834\udd7a investigation will\u200d focus on the activities of the\u2063 Swiss \u200cgovernment, financial regulator and central bank in the run\u2064 up \u2063to the emergency\u200b takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS\ud834\udd7a in \u200bMarch.<\/p>\n<p> \u2062<\/p>\n<p>The investigation is only the\u2063 fifth\u200b of its kind in \u200cthe country\u2019s\u2063 modern \u200dhistory and the\u200d committee of lawmakers conducting it\u200c has sweeping powers to call\u2062 on the \u200dSwiss cabinet, \u2063finance ministry \u2063and \u200bother state\u2063 bodies.<\/p>\n<p>\u2063 <\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAfter the \u200ccompletion \u200bof\u2063 the investigation, \u200cthe files\u2063 shall be handed over to the Federal Archives\u2064 and shall be subject to an extended \u200dprotection\ud834\udd7a period of 50 years,\u201d<\/strong> the committee said in a strategy paper outlining its communication policy.<\/p>\n<p> \u200c<\/p>\n<p>The Swiss \u2064parliament declined to comment on Saturday after the 50-year requirement was first\ud834\udd7a reported \u200bby newspaper Aargauer Zeitung.<\/p>\n<p>The Swiss Society for History raised concerns about the \ud834\udd7alength of\u200b time, with its president Sacha\u200c Zala \ud834\udd7awriting to commission head, Isabelle Chassot, a \u200blaw-maker from the Swiss \u200dupper house of parliament.<\/p>\n<p>He\ud834\udd7a also \u200dstressed that it \ud834\udd7ais\ud834\udd7a important Credit Suisse opens its \u2062own archives for historians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShould\u2064 researchers want \u200dto \u2063scientifically investigate the 2023 banking crisis, access to the CS files\u2063 would \u2062be\u200b invaluable,\u201d \u2062Zala wrote, according to the \ud834\udd7anewspaper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIdeally, it should \u2062be possible\u2064 to\u2062 secure and make \u200baccessible\u2062 the archive \ud834\udd7aafter an appropriate protection \u2063period has\u2064 expired \u2064and, \u2062if\u200c necessary, subject to historical research \ud834\udd7aconditions,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The committee held its \u2062first\u200b regular meeting in Bern\u2064 on Thursday, \ud834\udd7awhere\u200d it stressed the \u200cconfidentiality\u200c of its proceedings,\ud834\udd7a which \u200ccould\u200c include\ud834\udd7a interviews with bankers.<\/p>\n<p> \u200d<\/p>\n<p>Possible\u200d punishments for\u200c breaching that confidentiality ranged\ud834\udd7a from being \ud834\udd7abarred from speaking at the committee\ud834\udd7a to \ud834\udd7abeing\u200d barred for six months to three years in prison\u200c and fines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll persons participating\u2062 in the meetings and the\u2063 questioning are\u200d subject to the duty of \u2062secrecy, \u200dnot only\u200d the members of \u2063the commission, \u200bbut also \u2062the interviewees themselves,\u201d \u200dit said.<\/p>\n<p> \u2062<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndiscretions complicate the work or damage the credibility of the commission and can\ud834\udd7a have \u200dnegative consequences for \u200dthe Swiss financial centre,\u201d \ud834\udd7athe committee\u2063 added.<\/p>\n<p>\ud834\udd7a (Reporting by John Revill;
