It was part of a promotional deal with the brand, which a now-unemployed VP of marketing said had been too &#8220;fratty&#8221; in its previous advertisements and needed to embrace &#8220;inclusivity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A boycott by conservatives ensued. Since then, Whitworth has done everything short of 1) pointing to the date of the Instagram video and insisting it was an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/babylon-bee-nails-april-fools-day-official-apology-calling-rachel-levine-man\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April Fool&#8217;s joke<\/a> or 2) saying the words &#8220;we&#8217;re sorry.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>First, he penned a non-apology apology letter:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"zxx\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oyyfPzd1FM\">pic.twitter.com\/oyyfPzd1FM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Anheuser-Busch (@AnheuserBusch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AnheuserBusch\/status\/1646959620437561356?\">April 14, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When that didn&#8217;t work, he said that anyone calling the Dylan Mulvaney ad campaign an ad campaign featuring Dylan Mulvaney is a purveyor of &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bud-light-parent-company-ceo-faces-investors-earnings-call-blames-dylan-mulvaney-debacle-misinformation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misinformation<\/a>.&#8221; Don&#8217;t believe your lying eyes, ears or social media feed \u2014 the whole thing was just &#8220;misinformation!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That hasn&#8217;t worked, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bud-light-salespeople-lose-thousands-dollars-commission-not\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bud Light sales<\/a> have dropped by nearly a third. That number doesn&#8217;t count the farmers he said were also affected by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mlb-teams-fans-stage-reverse-boycott-throw-garbage-onto-field-send-message-owner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">boycott<\/a>,&#8221; Fortune reported.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s the impact honestly on the employees that weighs the most on me,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>To translate that out of corporate speak: Jobs are on the line because of Whitworth&#8217;s mistake. But the prospect of those lost jobs isn&#8217;t enough to actually move Whitworth to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/georgia-lawmaker-leaves-democratic-party-joins-gop-will-never-apologize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>apologize<\/em><\/a> for the campaign \u2014 or to resign \u2014 despite the fact his &#8220;responsibility &#8230; weighs&#8221; on him.<\/p>\n<p>And, if this is his &#8220;responsibility,&#8221; as he put it, he owes it to those 65,000 employees to do both. To put this in perspective, as business outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/news\/23\/07\/33172117\/bud-light-plummets-to-14th-place-among-beers-as-anheuser-busch-ceo-pleads-for-consumers-to-think-of\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benzinga<\/a> noted in an article Monday, the beer has fallen to 14th in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anheuser-busch-ceo-issues-underhanded-threat-to-boycotters-start-buying-bud-light-again-or-blue-collar-workers-will-be-targeted\/\" title=\"Anheuser-Busch CEO warns boycotters: Buy Bud Light or risk harm to blue collar workers.\">popularity survey conducted<\/a> by YouGov, despite being among the most popular brews in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>Will he apologize for the Mulvaney ad and how he and other Anheuser-Busch executives handled it? No. He will take &#8220;responsibility&#8221; for it \u2014 as if we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-christie-doubles-support-pal-weaponized-fbi-conservatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conservatives<\/a> were somehow apportioning it to executives at Miller Lite or Yuengling. But an apology is a bit too far. So is a resignation, apparently.<\/p>\n<p>What Brendan Whitworth is telling you, the consumer, is this: If you don&#8217;t stop ignoring his mistakes and his executives&#8217; decisions to push wokeness in your face, people aside from him (and most of those executives, too) will lose their jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an idea: If it&#8217;s your responsibility, Mr. Whitworth, how about you resign and urge the board to replace you with someone who openly promises not to use your company&#8217;s brands to push a political or social ideology?<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t go on CBS and say it&#8217;s the bottlers, the drivers and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/strange-new-farm-implement-seen-rolling-crops-farmers-will-love\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">farmers<\/a> that are going to be affected. Go to the boardroom and tender your resignation. Otherwise, keep quiet, reap the consequences, hope this blows over and that your company&#8217;s massive ad to promote Bud Light somehow restores the brand&#8217;s market share.
