The timing of these subpoenas raises questions about whether the subpoenas were in retaliation for HPSCI\u2019s oversight of the FBI,\u201d the lawmaker continued.<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/doj-subpoenaed-google-to-access-personal-info-of-house-staffers-during-russia-trump-probe-report_4934450.html\">previously reported<\/a> that the Department of Justice had allegedly used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-prosecutor-probing-attempts-to-influence-2020-election\/\" title=\"Georgia Prosecutor Probing Attempts to Influence 2020 Election\">grand jury subpoenas<\/a> in November 2017 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-judiciary-committee-probing-fbis-possible-retaliation-surveillance-of-multiple-republican-staffers\/\" title=\"House Judiciary Committee Investigating FBI's Alleged Retaliatory Surveillance of GOP Staffers\">secretly access personal information belonging<\/a> to the two House Republican staffers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/key-figure-departs-from-the-biden-administrations-vast-censorship-enterprise\/\" title=\"Prominent figure exits Biden administration's 'massive censorship operation'.\">including email communications<\/a>, residential addresses, and cellphone data, while Republicans were probing the FBI\u2019s investigation into the Russia collusion allegations against former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoenas (<a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-12\/KashPatelSubpoena.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) show that the DOJ requested that tech giant Google hand over personal information from former Intelligence Committee senior counsel Kash Patel, who was personally recruited by then-chair of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) to spearhead the investigation into the FBI\u2019s handling of the Trump\u2013Russia probe, and another staffer who is yet to be identified.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3624268\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2020\/12\/18\/kash-patel.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    (R) Kash Patel, then-National Security Council director of counterterrorism, stands with Sen. (Alex Wong\/Getty Images)<br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<h2>Concerns About FBI Misconduct<\/h2>\n<p>Google responded to the subpoena requests by Dec. 5, 2017\u2014roughly a month after they were issued\u2014and granted the FBI and DOJ access to an array of private information including Mr. Patel\u2019s and the other staffers\u2019 addresses, including mailing addresses, residential addresses, business addresses, email addresses, phone records, and personal telephone numbers.<\/p>\n<p>They were also able to see billing records from both Mr. Patel and the other staffer.<\/p>\n<p>However, neither Mr. Patel nor the unnamed staffer was informed that the personal documents were handed over until 2022, in line with Google\u2019s five-year policy.<\/p>\n<p>In his letter, Mr. Jordan noted Special Counsel John Durham\u2019s May report documenting the FBI\u2019s \u201cmisconduct in opening and executing\u201d the Crossfire Hurricane investigation against then-presidential candidate Mr. Trump.<\/p>\n<p>That report \u201cconfirms many of the concerns about FBI misconduct advanced by HPSCI in 2017,\u201d Mr. Jordan said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5398205\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/07\/14\/id5398205-GettyImages-1526784446-1-e1689301975865-1200x674.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    Former U.S. President Donald Trump attends UFC 290 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., on July 8, 2023.
