The tension arose when Tikka questioned Biden about America&#8217;s future commitment to NATO.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;What actions will you take to assure Finland that the U.S. will remain a reliable NATO partner for decades to come?&#8221; Tikka asked.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden responded confidently, stating, &#8220;I absolutely guarantee it,&#8221; and highlighting the &#8220;overwhelming support&#8221; for NATO in Congress. However, Tikka pressed further, expressing concerns about political instability in the U.S. affecting the alliance&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Let me be clear,&#8221; Biden retorted, &#8220;I didn&#8217;t say we couldn&#8217;t guarantee the future. You can&#8217;t tell me whether you&#8217;re gonna be able to go home tonight. No one can be sure what they&#8217;re gonna do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This exchange was just one of several tense moments during Biden&#8217;s trip to Europe. Earlier, he mistakenly referred to Icelandic Prime Minister Katr\u00edn Jakobsd\u00f3ttir as a &#8220;daughter of Ireland,&#8221; leading to an awkward correction.
