(Win McNamee\/Getty Images)<br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<h2>Bills a \u2018Meaningful Step\u2019 in Right Direction<\/h2>\n<p>Bill number two, H.R. 4507, or the \u201cTransparency in Coverage Act,\u201d would require insurers to make public certain data, including claims payment policies and practices, the number of claims denied, and periodic financial disclosures, in a timely and accurate manner.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning in January 2025, the legislation also prevents a group health plan, health insurers, or pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) from entering into a contract with drug manufacturers, distributors, or wholesalers if they are unable to meet the transparency requirements or if the agreements will delay the disclosure of public information.<\/p>\n<p>The third bill, H.R. 4508, or the \u201cHidden Fee Disclosure Act\u201d strengthens requirements that PBMs and third-party administrators disclose compensation to plan fiduciaries.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the legislation requires that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bipartisan-health-care-bills-tackling-transparency-in-pricing-pass-house-committee\/\" title=\"Bills promoting pricing transparency in healthcare pass House Committee with bipartisan support.\">patients receive transparent cost data<\/a> regarding compensation for PBMs and third-party administrators to fiduciaries before receiving treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, H.R. 4527, or the \u201cHealth DATA Act,\u201d works in tandem with the third bill by allowing plan fiduciaries to access and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bipartisan-health-care-bills-tackling-transparency-in-pricing-pass-house\/\" title=\"Bills promoting pricing transparency in healthcare pass House with bipartisan support.\">audit de-identified health claims data<\/a> to ensure compensation paid by the plan is reasonable.<\/p>\n<p>Failure to comply with the measure could result in a fine of up to $10,000 per day, according to the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing the latest measures, Mr. Scott said transparency in health care is \u201cessential for fostering meaningful competition\u201d and called the latest bills a \u201cmeaningful step to shining a light on many of the commonplace, yet harmful, practices in the healthcare industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5382199\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/07\/08\/id5382199-GettyImages-1513206580-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    U.S. President Joe Biden departs after speaki<br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The House Committee on Education and the Workforce approved bipartisan bills on July 12 to enhance healthcare pricing transparency and reduce costs.
