The effort aims to recruit business owners affected by the crime and property destruction of the last few years to join as plaintiffs in lawsuits against elected officials for allowing criminal behavior to go unabated.<\/p>\n<p>Rising crime has become \u201cdistressingly normalized\u201d in U.S. cities, Restore Law &#038; Order said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/public-radio-reporter-arrested-for-firebombing-police-cars\/\" title=\"Public Radio \u201cReporter\u201d Arrested For Firebombing Police Cars\">press release announcing<\/a> the effort. The group\u2019s mission is to hold\u00a0government officials \u201cpersonally accountable for their inaction and violation of constitutional law,\u201d the legal group said, as they seek to end the \u201congoing deterioration of safety and security that plagues our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe organization is actively seeking business owners with demonstrable economic losses and damages due to crime and lawlessness to join as plaintiffs in its numerous lawsuits against cities, states, local governments, and elected officials throughout the country,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n<p>Schumacher said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/leftists-wanted-nasa-to-rename-james-webb-telescope-over-lgbt-persecution-nasa-said-no\/\" title=\"Leftists Wanted NASA To Rename James Webb Telescope Over \u2018LGBT Persecution.\u2019 NASA Said No.\">government officials bear<\/a> the responsibility for the damage even more than the criminals themselves.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt is not Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and other radical extremist groups and radical thugs that are the primary cause of riots, homelessness, illegal protests, violence, and crime. It is the corrupt lawless government officials that need to be held accountable,\u201d <\/span>Schumacher told The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>He blamed left-wing policies for the destruction in cities and said elected officials had violated their oaths of office.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey have intentionally attempted to destroy Portland and other cities across America, which their far left-wing liberal agenda is the backbone of their cause,\u201d Schumacher said. \u201cThey\u2019ve imposed radical liberal ideology, which has overwhelmingly had a significant negative result. Many of the government officials throughout the United States violated the personal oath they took to uphold the laws of the U.S. Constitution, which has resulted in billions of dollars of economic damage throughout Oregon<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Along with other major cities, Portland erupted into riots in May 2020 after the death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis. In Portland, the protests lasted for months, continuing through the summer and as late as October.<\/p>\n<p>On just one night in July 2022, vandals <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kptv.com\/2022\/07\/05\/windows-more-than-5-businesses-shattered-during-protest-downtown-portland\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broke<\/a> the windows of more than five downtown Portland businesses. Protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wweek.com\/news\/2020\/05\/30\/portland-looters-raid-apple-store-pioneer-place-and-downtown-shops-until-wee-hours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looted<\/a> stores, set fires, and destroyed private property.<\/p>\n<p>Since COVID, shootings in Portland have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adn.com\/nation-world\/2023\/02\/10\/whats-the-matter-with-portland-shootings-theft-and-other-crime-test-citys-progressive-strain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tripled<\/a>, homicides have risen from 36 in 2019 to a record 97 in 2022, and car thefts have spiked to 11,000 last year, up from 6,500 in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The homeless population in Oregon at large has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/politics\/2023\/04\/oregons-recent-growth-in-homelessness-among-largest-in-nation.html\">increased<\/a> by 23% in just two years, one of the largest increases in the country. Downtown Portland, where many businesses operate, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/portland\/2023\/06\/open-air-drug-use-is-at-an-all-time-high-in-downtown-portland-police-turn-to-citations-as-fentanyl-crisis-explodes.html#:~:text=According%20to%20the%20Oregon%2DIdaho,%2C%E2%80%9D%20said%20Portland%20police%20Sgt.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notorious<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/san-francisco-recalls-district-attorney-chesa-boudin\/\" title=\"San Francisco recalls District Attorney Chesa Boudin\">open-air drug dealing<\/a>, public <a href=\"https:\/\/fox23maine.com\/news\/local\/downtown-portland-businesses-say-homeless-have-been-using-storefronts-as-public-bathrooms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">urination<\/a>, and petty crime. Foot traffic downtown plummeted during COVID and has remained down as businesses struggle from the riots and pandemic lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Schumacher\u2019s family business, Schumacher Furs, was established in 1895. It was America\u2019s oldest fur company before it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/breakingnews\/2007\/02\/schumacher_furs_owner_plans_to.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forced<\/a> to close permanently in 2007 after animal rights protesters demonstrated outside the downtown Portland store for about two years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was shocking and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/portland-businessman-targets-elected-officials-with-national-legal-initiative-over-covid-lawlessness\/\" title=\"Portland businessman takes legal action against elected officials for COVID lawlessness.\">heartbreaking watching terrorists systematically destroy<\/a> the company my family built,\u201d Schumacher said. \u201cLaw enforcement failed to intervene effectively, leaving us without the basic protection we deserved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe effects were devastating to our family and the families of hundreds of people we employed, many of which were expert craftsmen who had proudly worked for the company for decades,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Schumacher wants to prevent what happened to Schumacher Furs from happening to other businesses, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Portland businessman, Gregg Schumacher, has started a legal initiative called Restore Law &amp; Order.
