Democrats Mocked Him For Being \u2018Missing\u2019\">breast cancer diagnosis<\/a> during her second trimester.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was frustrating because I wanted to give them a family,\u201d second-time surrogate Brittney Pearson, 37, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12254637\/Surrogate-claims-gay-dads-told-terminate-pregnancy-24-weeks-cancer-diagnosis.html\">told<\/a> the Daily Mail. \u201cThey said they cared but they didn\u2019t. I felt betrayed and heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-320714012\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-28f0acc1c08b4f266dee80a185914e71 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-28f0acc1c08b4f266dee80a185914e71\"><\/div>\n<p>Pearson\u2019s doctors initially found a chemotherapy treatment that would allow her to safely carry the child until weeks into her third trimester.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey said that the pregnancy could have saved my life too because when you\u2019re pregnant, all your cells are growing more rapidly, so the cancer grew a lot faster, and that\u2019s how we found it. So it could have stayed smaller and dormant for way longer and been way worse before we found it,\u201d Pearson explained in <a href=\"https:\/\/cbc-network.org\/2023\/07\/breaking-when-surrogacy-goes-badly-there-are-no-winners-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an interview<\/a> with Jennifer Lahl of The Center For Bioethics and Culture Network.<\/p>\n<p>If the baby boy was still unwanted at the time of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/surrogate-with-cancer-forced-to-end-babys-life-after-pressure-from-parents-but-in-every-surrogacy-babies-come-last\/\" title=\"Surrogate compelled to terminate baby due to parental pressure, disregarding the baby's well-being in all surrogacy cases.\">projected 34-week delivery post-chemo<\/a>, Pearson noted that there were even several families lined up who were willing to adopt him after birth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first thing I thought after I was diagnosed was I want to keep this baby safe and bring it earthside,\u201d Pearson explained. \u201cI would have been there, I would have given him every chance of survival. I had people ready to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a5fd812177952a7733b041536addb8d5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a5fd812177952a7733b041536addb8d5\"><\/div>\n<p>Pearson said her medical team tried \u201cliterally everything they could because they cared about me and the baby both and they just \u2014 they didn\u2019t want this to be the outcome at all\u201d but to no avail. The womb renters still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12254637\/Surrogate-claims-gay-dads-told-terminate-pregnancy-24-weeks-cancer-diagnosis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demanded<\/a> to the hospital and Pearson that the unborn baby be \u201cimmediately terminated\u201d and \u201cerased\u201d because they didn\u2019t want their DNA \u201cout there,\u201d according to Pearson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were very loud and vocal and ruffled a lot of feathers and made a lot of noise, enough to scare people into being like \u2018Oh, I don\u2019t know,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>After doctors determined the cancer would demand a more aggressive chemo regimen than previously hoped, the child was delivered just a few weeks past what doctors consider an unborn baby\u2019s point of viability. It\u2019s unclear whether Pearson, whose contract reportedly gave her final say over the baby until he was born, gave the final word to deliver the baby at 25 weeks. She did, however repeatedly state that she felt coerced by the parents to choose termination if there was any risk of early delivery. He did not survive the premature evacuation from the womb.<\/p>\n<p>Pearson said her mom took pictures of the baby once he was born. It was Father\u2019s Day, but Pearson said both the child\u2019s biological father and his partner refused to be present for the birth.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f73171c47f671ac68aad2229f797b957 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f73171c47f671ac68aad2229f797b957\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWith medical advancements, babies survive and have, by the time they\u2019re like three, four or five, they are going to be perfectly healthy. But [the fathers] just refused any type of medical intervention. They wanted nothing. They just wanted their baby\u2019s remains and to move on with life,\u201d Pearson explained.<\/p>\n<p>The clients also haven\u2019t contacted Pearson, who is still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-democrats-ram-3-5-trillion-budget-through-with-no-republican-votes\/\" title=\"Senate Democrats Ram .5 Trillion Budget Through With No Republican Votes\">undergoing cancer treatments<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/love-on-our-daughter-sissy-mom-aunite-and-friend\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on track<\/a> to lose the insurance provided through her surrogacy contract, since birth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like just a rented uterus,\u201d Pearson said.<\/p>\n<h2>Someone Always Pays a Price<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear exactly what happened in the delivery room on Father\u2019s Day but there is no doubt that Pearson is still obviously reeling from it.<\/p>\n<p>Women who are pressured into ending life in the womb, one January 2023 study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cureus.com\/articles\/124269-effects-of-pressure-to-abort-on-womens-emotional-responses-and-mental-health#!\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a>, reported a host of negative emotional issues including \u201cmore disruptions of their daily life, work, or relationships; more frequent dreams, flashbacks, or intrusive thoughts about their abortions; more frequent feelings of loss, grief, or sadness about their abortions; more moral and maternal conflict over their abortion decisions; a perceived decline in their overall mental health that they attribute to their abortions; and a higher degree of desire or need for help to cope with negative feelings about their abortions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The forced termination of pregnancy can also leave physical scars on women whose bodies were not ready to deliver a child. For Pearson, who has four children of her own, the blood and iron loss that occurred during the baby\u2019s premature delivery caused her to become \u201cso sick\u201d during her first round of chemo.<\/p>\n<p>This kind of trauma is a direct result of the commodification of women through the fertility industry. In many cases, attempting to monetize baby-making and carrying results in legal horror stories that leave <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepublicdiscourse.com\/2017\/11\/20390\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">parents and surrogates<\/a> hurt and <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2017\/06\/extreme-surrogacy-nightmare-heads-to-iowa-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">children dead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even Pearson, who claims that she thinks surrogacy \u201chas a great time and place,\u201d understands that there is something incredibly offputting about two men deciding who lives and who dies based on a piece of paper signed months ago.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to commercial surrogacy, at least one of the parties <strong>always<\/strong> suffers trauma and heartbreak. Intended parents can often <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/26\/khloe-kardashian-explains-everything-wrong-with-self-serving-surrogacy-its-such-a-transactional-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struggle to connect<\/a> with a child they didn\u2019t create or carry. Surrogates who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/khloe-kardashian-explains-everything-wrong-with-self-serving-surrogacy-its-such-a-transactional-experience\/\" title=\"Khloe Kardashian criticizes self-serving surrogacy as a transactional experience.\">spend months nurturing infants<\/a> in the womb only to part ways at birth have a\u00a0<strong>\u201cthree-fold\u00a0risk of developing hypertension and pre-eclampsia\u201d<\/strong> and report\u00a0<strong>feeling heightened anxiety<\/strong>. In some cases, they are forced to undergo <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/1894927\/#:~:text=Selective%20reduction%20refers%20to%20the,drugs%20or%20in%20vitro%20fertilization.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cselective reduction,\u201d the abortion<\/a> of unwanted multiples in the womb. Babies who are separated from the woman who carried them for nine months often suffer from increased stress and even\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/big-fertility-harms-babies-and-women-so-why-are-we-celebrating-it\/\" title=\"Big Fertility Harms Babies And Women So Why Are We Celebrating It?\">brain structure alterations<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Surrogacy, which is only possible because the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/17\/worried-about-an-ai-dystopia-the-global-fertility-industry-has-it-beat-by-decades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nearly billion-dollar<\/a>\u00a0fertility industry is fine preying on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/05\/when-sperm-and-eggs-are-monetized-human-existence-becomes-transactional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the poor<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/10\/meet-the-donor-conceived-comedian-who-wants-everyone-to-know-how-corrupt-and-unethical-big-fertility-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unfortunate<\/a>\u00a0and exploiting them for profit, deliberately severs important physical and emotional bonds of children and women to fulfill the desires of adults. Renting a womb violates not just the divinely created act of reproduction and the dignity of biological and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/26\/big-fertility-harms-babies-and-women-so-why-are-we-celebrating-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">birth mothers<\/a>, but it also hurts the child whose rights and needs are pushed aside.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, an innocent baby\u2019s life was sacrificed after two men deliberately chose not to give him a chance. That decision will leave a permanent scar on the surrogate mother.<\/p>\n<p>Even if the baby she carried for more than 20 weeks did not die, Pearson would have been forcibly separated from him eventually.
