Now Chen is discussing what happened after she delivered their daughter, Gia Virginia. She <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tiffany-chen-lost-all-facial-functions-after-giving-birth-daughter-robert-de-niro-7560267\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">told<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> CBS Mornings that she experienced Bell\u2019s palsy, which causes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/5-stories-the-legacy-media-have-already-ignored-this-year\/\" title=\"5 Stories The Legacy Media Have Already Ignored This Year\">facial paralysis<\/a>, following the baby\u2019s birth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bell\u2019s palsy affects about 40,000 people in the U.S. each year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ninds.nih.gov\/health-information\/disorders\/bells-palsy\">according<\/a> to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Pregnancy and childbirth are two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vaccines-schools-and-racist-insurance-fact-checking-bidens-town-hall-claims\/\" title=\"Vaccines, Schools And Racist Insurance: \u2018Fact-Checking\u2019 Biden\u2019s Town Hall Claims\">risk factors<\/a> for developing the condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhen I went home, I started to feel like \u2026 my tongue felt strange,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/entertainment\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> told the outlet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt felt a little tingly, just starting to get a little <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rhodes-rage\/\" title=\"Rhodes Rage\">bit numb<\/a>. And then I realized my face just felt weird. I didn\u2019t know what the feeling was that I was having. It felt weird.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chen, 45, went on to discuss how her condition worsened over time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhen I got home, it was like everything was starting to just fall down on itself. Like, my face was melting on itself,\u201d Chen explained. \u201cAnd then a week after giving birth, that was when it all hit. And I called my doctor, and I \u2026 was trying to eat.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She said, \u201cI went to put a fork of food in my mouth and everything came out. I couldn\u2019t eat. And then I was starting to slur. So I said, \u2018There\u2019s something really going on here.&#8217;\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eventually, things got bad enough that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/robert-de-niros-girlfriend-details-delivery-complication-lost-all-control-of-my-face\/\" title=\"De Niro's girlfriend shares delivery 'complication': 'Lost control of my face'.\">martial arts professional<\/a> was told to go to the ER immediately. \u201cI lost all facial function the minute I got into the hospital,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">De Niro and Chen were rumored to be romantic partners for years before they announced the birth of their daughter. The \u201cMeet the Parents\u201d star <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/robert-de-niro-79-announces-birth-of-7th-child\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">revealed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that Chen had given birth while he was promoting the film, \u201cAbout My Father.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI mean, there\u2019s no way around it with kids. I don\u2019t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice,\u201d De Niro said at the time. \u201cAnd any parent, I think, would say the same thing.
