Chris Coons, from Biden\u2019s home state of Delaware,\u00a0 convinced Manchin that his vote could appease the radical elements within the party who had been strongly critical of him. However, the outcome was predictable.<\/p>\n<p>The promises made by Manchin\u2019s own party members regarding reforms <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/us-policy\/2022\/07\/30\/climate-spending-agenda-senate-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were not fulfilled<\/a>, and the White House\u2019s opposition to the coal industry persisted. Meanwhile, the far-left continued to vehemently oppose Manchin\u2019s attempts at bipartisanship at every juncture.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, Manchin accused the Biden administration of undermining the purported goals of the Inflation Reduction Act.
