However, he vehemently denies these claims.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFinally, in May 2023, the Department of Justice notified Epps that it would seek to charge him criminally for events on January 6, 2021\u2014two-and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-trump-aide-paul-manafort-cant-be-prosecuted-in-new-york-following-pardon-court-rules\/\" title=\"Ex-Trump Aide Paul Manafort Can\u2019t Be Prosecuted in New York Following Pardon, Court Rules\">-a-half years<\/a> later,\u201d the lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.ded.83032\/gov.uscourts.ded.83032.1.1_1.pdf\">stated<\/a>. \u201cThe relentless attacks by Fox and Mr. Carlson and the resulting political pressure likely resulted in the criminal charges.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Epps, a 62-year-old Marine veteran from Arizona, was a central figure in the Capitol riot from the very beginning.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple video clips from January 6 and the day before show Epps attempting to rally other Trump supporters, urging them to &#8220;go into the Capitol&#8221; the following day.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll say it. We need to go into the Capitol,\u201d Epps says in one clip. At least four times on video, Epps repeats his call to action to \u201cgo into the Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>FBI Director Christopher Wray faced questioning from lawmakers, including inquiries about Epps, during a recent hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not going to engage here in a discussion about individual people who are or are not going to be prosecuted,\u201d Wray <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/congressman-challenges-fbi-director-on-whether-hell-arrest-ray-epps-you-are-protecting-this-guy\">responded<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mairead Elordi contributed to this report.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ray Epps, spotted wearing a Trump hat during the January 6 riot, has been notified by federal law enforcement of impending charges related to the incident, according to his attorney.
