Andy Biggs of Arizona sought to corner Wray during a House Judiciary Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nSq6ZtpBfjA&#038;ab_channel=NowThisNews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hearing<\/a> in a way similar to what Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas did with a top FBI official in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Biggs started his line of questioning by citing a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tucker-drops-jan-6-bombshell-unaired-fox-interview-capitol-police-chief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> that former U.S. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund said the crowd of protesters on Jan. 6 was \u201cfilled with federal agents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWould you agree with him that it was filled with federal agents?\u201d Biggs asked Wray.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would really have to see more closely exactly what he said and get the full context to be able to evaluate it,\u201d the FBI director responded.<\/p>\n<p>Biggs followed up by asking how many agents and human resources the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/matt-gaetz-humiliates-fbi-director-testimony-house-judiciary-committee-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FBI<\/a> had present on Jan. 6. Wray continued to dance around the question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to get confusing because it depends on when we deployed and responded to the breach that occurred,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Come on, man.<\/strong> The question is how many FBI agents were covertly ensconced among the protesters.<\/p>\n<h3>Do you think the FBI had a significant presence at the Capitol on Jan. 6?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Completing this poll entitles you to The Western Journal news updates free of charge. How many were there?\u201d the congressman asked again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure that I can give you the number as I sit here,\u201d Wray answered. \u201cI\u2019m not sure there were undercover agents on scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biggs was clearly getting frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find that kind of a remarkable statement, director,\u201d the Arizonan said. \u201cAt this point, you don\u2019t know whether there were undercover federal agents, FBI agents in the crowd or in the Capitol on Jan. 6?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wray responded by saying there are FBI court filings that address these issues, and he did not want to stray from what those filings contain.<\/p>\n<p>Classic response. In other words, he\u2019s saying, \u201cI\u2019d really like to give you a number, but I just can\u2019t because of ongoing litigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biggs was not satisfied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought I heard you say you didn\u2019t know whether there were FBI agents or informants or human sources in the Capitol or in the vicinity on Jan. 6. Did I misunderstand you?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>This could be dangerous territory if documentation becomes public someday showing Wray knew of FBI assets in the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I referred very specifically to undercover agents,\u201d Wray said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you acknowledging, then, there were undercover agents?\u201d Biggs asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I sit here right now, I do not believe there were undercover agents on scene,\u201d Wray replied.<\/p>\n<p>Biggs went back to the overarching question: \u201cDid you have any assets present that day in the crowd?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finally, there seemed to be the slightest admission by Wray that the FBI did have \u201cconfidential human sources\u201d present.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are court filings that I think speak to this that I\u2019m happy to make sure we get to you, assuming they\u2019re not under seal, and that can better answer the question than I can as I sit here right now,\u201d Wray said.<\/p>\n<p>Biggs later tweeted, \u201cFBI Director Wray just told me he \u2018does not believe\u2019 there were any undercover FBI agents in or around the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
