And I knew I didn\u2019t want it, but the one time I had attempted to even say, \u2018Hey, do you think I could shower myself?\u2019 She flew into hysterics, and it just became clear to me, \u2018Oh, I can\u2019t ever try to shower myself again,&#8217;\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The only time McCurdy was free to shower alone was when her mother, Debbie, was being treated for cancer and the actress went on tour.<\/p>\n<p>McCurdy, who is also an author, rose to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/top-guns-tom-cruise-set-save-hollywood-weekend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prominence in Hollywood<\/a> while starring in the Nickelodeon series \u201ciCarly,\u201d and \u201cSam &#038; Cat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s unknown why Debbie would insist on showering her daughter, McCurdy speculates it has something to do with her mother fearing her daughter growing up.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s the fear of me growing up. She felt good. Me growing up kind of felt like her loss of purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>McCurdy recalled asking her mother whether she could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/jennette-mccurdy-red-table-talk-recalls-shameful-upbringing-last-conversation-with-her-mom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stop her physical development<\/a> when she was 11 years old.
