The Northeast region has been hit hard by torrential downpours, with Vermont and parts of New York experiencing two months&#8217; worth of rain in just two days.<\/p>\n<p>As the annual NATO summit takes place in Lithuania, President Biden has directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-emergency-declared-in-texas-amidst-severe-winter-weather\/\" title=\"Federal Emergency Declared In Texas Amidst Severe Winter Weather\">coordinate relief efforts<\/a> and provide assistance to affected areas. However, as of now, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths related to the current flooding.<\/p>\n<h2>Concerns Mount About Dam Nearing Capacity<\/h2>\n<p>In Montpelier, city officials have announced the closure of the downtown area until at least midday on Tuesday to assess safety risks and begin cleanup efforts. The river running through the capital city is receding, and the damage is unlikely to worsen during the morning hours as water levels drop.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are concerns about the Wrightsville Dam in Washington County&#8217;s Winooski River. If more water pours over, the dam could exceed its capacity for the first time, leading to further flooding in downtown areas that are already waist-high in water.<\/p>\n<p>The Montpelier Police Department is closely monitoring the water level and has reported no significant change so far.
