If indicted on all eight counts, Mr. Luft faces a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kim-potter-to-be-charged-with-second-degree-manslaughter-in-daunte-wright-shooting\/\" title=\"Kim Potter To Be Charged With Second-Degree Manslaughter In Daunte Wright Shooting\">maximum prison sentence<\/a> of 100 years (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/media\/1304836\/dl?inline\">pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs alleged, the defendant engaged in multiple schemes to evade sanctions and laws intended to protect our national security,\u201d stated FBI Acting Assistant Director in Charge Christie M. Curtis.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Luft is also known for being a potential witness in investigations into Hunter Biden\u2019s financial dealings. From an undisclosed location, Mr. Luft filmed a 14 minute video shared with <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/07\/05\/missing-biden-corruption-case-witness-dr-gal-luft-details-allegations-against-presidents-family-in-extraordinary-video\/\">New York Post<\/a> claiming his innocence and knowledge of Hunter Biden\u2019s alleged dealings in China.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Luft had been an advisor to CEFC China Energy, and told FBI prosecutors in Brussels in 2019 that CEFC had given Mr. Hunter Biden and his uncle James Biden monthly payments of $100,000 and $65,000 in exchange for using their names to promote Chinese business interests, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/31\/missing-biden-family-corruption-probe-witness-gal-luft-speaks-out-living-as-fugitive-in-undisclosed-location\/\">according<\/a> to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) said on Fox News recently that Mr. Luft should have the opportunity to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenRonJohnson\/status\/1678105084591325185\">testify<\/a> on this case before Congress.<\/p>\n<h2>Investigations<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5366601\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/06\/30\/id5366601-Hunter-Biden-GettyImages-1258955185-1200x802.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    Hunter Biden arrives for a toast during an official State Dinner in honor of India\u2019s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the White House on June 22, 2023. He plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/hunter-biden-pleads-guilty-to-federal-charges_5344246.html\">plea guilty<\/a> to two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-de\/pr\/tax-and-firearm-charges-filed-against-robert-hunter-biden\">misdemeanor<\/a> offenses of failing to pay taxes on income in excess of $1.5 million in 2017 and 2018, and illegal possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, House Republicans have been probing the financial dealings of the Biden family amid allegations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/doj-excluded-irs-investigative-team-from-briefing-on-biden-bribery-allegations-sen-grassley_5385877.html\">cited<\/a> by House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer that Mr. Hunter Biden received at least $15 million from foreign nationals.<\/p>\n<p>The House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/doj-excluded-irs-investigative-team-from-briefing-on-biden-bribery-allegations-sen-grassley_5385877.html\">says<\/a> Mr. Hunter Biden is alleged to have received more than $17 million from sources in Ukraine, Romania, and China.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/hunter-biden-received-preferential-treatment-from-irs-doj-over-felony-tax-fraud-investigation-irs-whistleblowers_5349754.html\">whistleblower<\/a> came forth with allegations of government abuse from the Justice Department and IRS, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-cawthorn-blasts-big-tech-for-censorship-and-political-bias\/\" title=\"Rep. Cawthorn blasts Big Tech for censorship and political bias\">showing preferential treatment<\/a> for the U.S. President\u2019s son.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware David Weiss and Attorney General Merrick Garland have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/doj-excluded-irs-investigative-team-from-briefing-on-biden-bribery-allegations-sen-grassley_5385877.html\">denied<\/a> these claims.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Hunter Biden is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/hunter-biden-gives-deposition-in-defamation-lawsuit-brought-by-delaware-laptop-repairman_5364251.html\">involved<\/a> in an ongoing lawsuit and countersuit involving the laptop he abandoned in a Delaware computer repair shop.<\/p>\n<p>John Paul Mac Isaac, the repairman, sued Mr. Hunter Biden last year for $1.5 million in damages, alleging defamation.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Mac Isaac says Mr. Hunter Biden\u2019s claims that the laptop had been stolen or hacked included a narrative that Mr. Mac Isaac was party to a Russian disinformation campaign.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4986994\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/01\/15\/GettyImages-1229207666-1200x802.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    An exterior view of The Mac Shop, where Hunter Biden allegedly brought his laptop for repair but never picked it up, in Wilmington, Del., on Oct. 21, 2020.
