The FTC had been trying to prevent the $69 billion deal from going through, but Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley in San Francisco has now given the green light to the merger.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis court\u2019s responsibility in this case is narrow. It is to decide if, notwithstanding these current circumstances, the merger should be halted \u2014 perhaps even terminated \u2014 pending resolution of the FTC administrative action,\u201d Corley wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After hearing arguments from both sides over the course of five days, Judge Corley decided to reject the FTC&#8217;s emergency injunction. The FTC had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-energy-secretary-pick-called-out-by-republicans-for-democrats-awful-record-on-green-jobs-video\/\" title=\"Biden Energy Secretary Pick Called Out By Republicans For Democrats\u2019 Awful Record On \u2018Green Jobs\u2019 (VIDEO)\">expressed concerns<\/a> about Microsoft potentially gaining a monopoly in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-gives-pardons-to-73-individuals-and-commutes-another-70-sentences-steve-bannon-is-included\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump Gives Pardons to 73 Individuals and Commutes Another 70 Sentences \u2013 Steve Bannon Is Included\">gaming industry<\/a> if the deal proceeded.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFor the reasons explained, the court finds the FTC has not shown a likelihood it will prevail on its claim this particular vertical merger in this specific industry may <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ftc-files-slimmed-down-complaint-in-fight-with-meta-over-within-acquisition\/\" title=\"FTC files slimmed-down complaint in fight with Meta over Within acquisition\">substantially lessen competition<\/a>,\u201d the ruling read. \u201cTo the contrary, the record evidence points to more consumer access to Call of Duty and other Activision content. The motion for a preliminary injunction is therefore DENIED.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This ruling comes just in time, as the purchasing deadline for Microsoft and Activision is only a week away. Microsoft had proposed the acquisition to expand its library of games, including mobile titles.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft President and Vice Chairman Brad Smith expressed gratitude for the court&#8217;s decision and hopes for a timely resolution in other jurisdictions.
