In addition to her prison time, she and her former boyfriend and Theranos President Ramesh \u201cSunny\u201d Balwani were ordered to pay over $452 million in restitution.<\/p>\n<p>In June, prosecutors suggested that Holmes contribute $250 per month towards her share of the restitution after her release from prison, as reported by Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-06-12\/holmes-objects-to-250-a-month-victim-payments-after-prison?srnd=premium&#038;sref=yaJhKSOh&#038;leadSource=uverify%20wall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. Holmes&#8217; legal team argued that this payment plan was a result of a clerical error, but prosecutors denied this claim.<\/p>\n<p>Holmes&#8217; attorneys stated that the judge took into consideration &#8220;substantial evidence showing Ms. Holmes&#8217; limited financial resources and has appropriately treated Ms. Holmes and Mr. Balwani differently in sentencing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a recent interview with The New York Times, Holmes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/05\/07\/business\/elizabeth-holmes-theranos-interview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expressed<\/a> her struggle to pay her legal bills, saying, &#8220;I have to work for the rest of my life to try to pay for it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it is unlikely that those affected by Holmes&#8217; actions will ever receive their full restitution. Daniel Richman, a professor at Columbia Law School and former federal prosecutor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/elizabeth-holmes-says-she-cant-afford-restitution-2023-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> that &#8220;generally, most restitution is never paid.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During the trial and while appealing her conviction, Holmes and her partner, hotel heir Billy Evans, embarked on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-brian-laundrie-confessed-in-notebook-to-gabby-petitos-murder\/\" title=\"FBI: Brian Laundrie Confessed in Notebook to Gabby Petito\u2019s Murder\">cross-country journey<\/a>, living in an RV and even attending Burning Man, a festival known for its high ticket prices.<\/p>\n<p>According to federal prosecutors, Holmes <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/01\/20\/elizabeth-holmes-living-in-13000-per-month-estate-showing-no-remorse-feds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resided<\/a> in a $13,000-per-month estate during this time.
