But before yet another Islamic terrorism prosecution passes with no public contemplation, the story of Bridges as detailed in the court files demands a pause for telling because the death penalty-deserving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/2381#:~:text=Whoever%252C%2520owing%2520allegiance%2520to%2520the,not%2520less%2520than%2520%252410%252C000%253B%2520and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">high treason<\/a> for which this turncoat was <em>not<\/em> charged blew far past tolerance norms.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>May this treasonous behavior in the service of the global jihad and against his country and brothers-in-arms at least be considered at his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blm-and-antifa-activists-who-tried-to-frame-right-wing-group-for-crimes-convicted-of-arson\/\" title=\"BLM and Antifa Activists Who Tried to Frame Right Wing Group for Crimes Convicted of Arson\">sentencing hearing scheduled<\/a> for Nov. 2.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>High Treason Not Charged<\/h2>\n<p>Plenty of civilian Americans have embraced the most violent of Islamic ideologies over the past two decades, physically joining ISIS or al-Qaeda on distant battlefields to kill American soldiers. Many were prosecuted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archives\/jm\/criminal-resource-manual-15-providing-material-support-terrorists-18-usc-2339a\">for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/actblue-facilitating-donations-to-terror-tied-charity-legal-group-says\/\" title=\"ActBlue Facilitating Donations to Terror-Tied Charity, Legal Group Says\">providing material support<\/a><\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-back-measure-to-give-aid-to-iraqi-militia-groups-tied-to-iran\/\" title=\"Dems Back Measure To Give Aid to Iraqi Militia Groups Tied to Iran\">designated terrorist groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But few American jihadists stealthily joined the U.S. military like Bridges did in 2019 as already fully dedicated to the cause of establishing a global Islamic caliphate under draconian Sharia Law \u2014 the prime goal of all groups like ISIS. What puts this case over the top is what Bridges did with his fresh training and access after becoming a cavalry scout for the 3rd Infantry Division while stationed in Fort Stewart, Georgia, and briefly in Germany, an ISIS flag always secreted away in his duffel.<\/p>\n<p>The investigating FBI agent\u2019s complaint affidavit summarizes much of this, based on FBI-monitored ISIS chatroom conversations from August 2020 through January 2021 between Bridges and terrorists in Syria, some of whom, thankfully, turned out to be undercover FBI agents and informants.<\/p>\n<h3>Road to High Treason<\/h3>\n<p>Court records don\u2019t map the entire route Bridges took to his coming prison stint.<\/p>\n<p>But as the FBI chatted with him in the encrypted ISIS chatroom, Bridges gave up some pertinent details. He somehow converted to Islam and devoted himself to violent global jihad while growing up in Stow, Ohio, a town of 34,000 northeast of Akron, where friends and neighbors all knew him as \u201cCole Gonzalez.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the chatroom, he recalled that before joining the military, he\u2019d been deeply inspired by \u201cthe brothers who have been fighting to establish a khilafah [caliphate]\u201d because of their \u201clove for Allah and courage to go against all of this world to raise His word to the highest\u201d \u2014 so much so that he put up a propaganda web page and reached out to jihadists overseas.<\/p>\n<p>His family discovered the page with its photos and videos lionizing jihadist fighters. So did the government, evidently. He said \u201chomeland security\u201d officers even paid him a visit at his pre-military civilian job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI used to have connections with people in Hamas and ISIS, and my family found out, and the government could have arrested me,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSo I needed to prove to them I wasn\u2019t what they thought I was, and I needed the government to get off my back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Evidently, the younger Bridges succeeded in that. The Army took him in September 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Asked how he was able to join despite family and government awareness of his jihadist proclivities \u2014 a very good question \u2014 Bridges responded this way: \u201cMm, nobody knew I had contacts besides my family but it was never confirmed. They were suspicious. Even still, because I had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dhs-cannot-account-for-50k-migrants-released-in-2021\/\" title=\"DHS Cannot Account for 50K Migrants Released in 2021\">homeland security show<\/a> up to my work before the army.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once in, he resumed his interest. The FBI got onto him about a year later in the encrypted chatrooms, where Bridges explained that he felt \u201cfrustration with not being able to do more and feeling like you are useless. But \u2026 you are not. To be a lion or lioness doesn\u2019t mean you always have to fight \u2026 there are ways other than fighting that are considered a form of Jihad even within yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He found those other ways, only now with, as he put it in the chatroom, \u201cskills not everyone else has\u201d that he\u2019d be willing to share with the \u201cbrothers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can teach them ways of fighting, combat techniques, movements, formations, etc. React to contact. I\u2019m a cavalry scout \u2026 so I work with infantry sometimes. [Cavalry scouts] do a little bit of everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bridges began sending helpful combat instructions, battle tactics diagrams, and Army training video clips he hoped would preserve the lives of ISIS fighters and take the lives of American troops.<\/p>\n<p>But Bridges also proved receptive when an undercover FBI agent posing as an ISIS operative in New York asked if he\u2019d be willing to help attack the Big Apple.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no problem with that,\u201d Bridges replied, adding that he could only provide advice and training techniques for a U.S. attack because his job put him at high risk of discovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have civilian investigators that came by last week taking random people for \u2018interviews.\u2019 Luckily, I wasn\u2019t picked,\u201d he explained as one example.<\/p>\n<p>But Bridges was into the U.S. attack. He warned his new friends to just go deeper undercover and moved the conversation to new chat channels. The \u201cfriends\u201d asked Bridges to evaluate a series of pictures of federal, local, and foreign government buildings in and around New York City for an attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot enough firepower for that,\u201d Bridges replied in one input. When the purported New York ISIS operative proposed killing civilians visiting the 911 Memorial, Bridges retorted that \u201ca sniper kill\u201d targeting diplomats and heads of state visiting the memorial would be better, \u201cand then getting out quietly for a second attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What excited Bridges more, though, was advising ISIS on a plan to kill Special Forces personnel by luring them into a bomb-laced house inside a compound. He came up with the idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, well of course get all the men out of the house and then blow the house,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n<p>He went all in, not only planning the attack but advising on weapons placement and drawing out positions using a satellite image of the compound. Then he planned to exploit the dead Americans for propaganda by using himself in his U.S. Army combat kit.<\/p>\n<p>He sent video of himself, giving the ISIS sign of a finger pointing upward and his jihadist flag behind him.<\/p>\n<p>Bridges faces a maximum of 40 years on his charges, which arguably could have included treason and thus the death penalty.<\/p>\n<p>At the Nov. 2 sentencing, let U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman not be dissuaded from using what he has to deter other lurking green-on-blue turncoats just as willing to abuse the trust of a uniquely sacred oath to murder those who bestowed it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On June 14, Ohio&#8217;s PFC Cole James Bridges admitted guilt to terrorism and attempted murder.
