One would assume that the game between the U.S. and Wales, which took place in San Jose, California, near Rapinoe&#8217;s hometown, would have been the perfect opportunity for her own Reggie Miller moment.<\/p>\n<p>However, instead of a celebration of her legacy, Rapinoe received nothing. She didn&#8217;t even play.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/07\/09\/sports\/soccer\/uswnt-rapinoe-world-cup-wales.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>, Rapinoe found herself on the U.S. women&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-womens-soccer-team-kneels-for-anthem-wears-black-lives-matter\/\" title=\"US Women's Soccer Team Kneels for Anthem, Wears 'Black Lives Matter'\">national team<\/a> bench, hundreds of miles away from her hometown, after publicly announcing her retirement plans the day before.<\/p>\n<p>While it&#8217;s possible that Rapinoe wasn&#8217;t called to play for various reasons, such as her declining performance, it&#8217;s still surprising that she didn&#8217;t get a token appearance in front of her family and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Even Wade and Nowitzki were given special recognition in their final year in the NBA All-Star Game.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being healthy and medically cleared to play, Rapinoe was left out of the game.
