Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Bad Ideas: Vampire Facials and Blood-Borne Infections<\/h2>\n<p>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/harris-makes-false-gun-claims-signals-biden-may-use-executive-action-to-crackdown-on-second-amendment\/\" title=\"Harris Makes False Gun Claims, Signals Biden May Use Executive Action To Crackdown On Second Amendment\">ideas don\u2019<\/a>t need much explanation for it to be apparent why they\u2019re bad.<\/p>\n<p>Eating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chicken-side-nyquil-fda-forced-issue-warning-unbelievable-tiktok-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NyQuil chicken<\/a>, providing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/faa-gives-greenlight-fully-electric-flying-car-can-used-avoid-traffic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flying electric cars<\/a> to civilians and bringing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lauren-boebert-comes-simple-solution-find-brought-cocaine-white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cocaine into the White House<\/a> are all objectively questionable \u2014 if not outright terrible \u2014 ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Rubbing blood all over your face to smooth out that pesky crow\u2019s foot?<\/p>\n<p>That feels like it should enter in the Hall of Fame of Bad Ideas, and there is mounting evidence that \u201cvampire facials\u201d could be a first-ballot entrant.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the New Mexico Department of Health had to put out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmhealth.org\/news\/alert\/2023\/7\/?view=1988\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/emergency-wisconsin-lawsuit-to-stop-certification-challenges-nearly-160000-votes\/\" title=\"Emergency Wisconsin Lawsuit To Stop Certification Challenges Nearly 160,000 Votes\">news release<\/a><\/a> recommending that certain clients of the now-shuttered VIP Beauty Salon and Spa in Albuquerque get tested for blood-borne infections.<\/p>\n<p>The department recommended that \u201canyone who received any type of injection-related service, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/skip-these-celebrity-endorsed-wellness-tips\/\" title=\"Skip These Celebrity-endorsed Wellness Tips\">vampire facial<\/a> or Botox injections at the VIP Spa, come to the South Valley Public Health office in Albuquerque for free and confidential HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C lab testing and counseling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Disconcertingly, the release added: \u201cFormer VIP Spa clients should be retested even if they previously had a negative test.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very important that we spread the word and remind people who received any kind of injection-related to services provided at the VIP Spa to come in for free and confidential testing,\u201d Dr. Laura Parajon, New Mexico\u2019s deputy secretary of health, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>According to the news release, the VIP Spa was closed in September 2018.<\/p>\n<p>That closure followed an investigation by the state Department of Health and the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, Barbers and Cosmetologists Board.<\/p>\n<p>That investigative entity \u201cidentified practices that could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-hiv-cases-linked-to-disturbing-spa-treatment\/\" title=\"Spa treatment linked to new HIV cases.\">potentially spread blood-borne infections<\/a>, such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C to clients. More than 100 former clients were tested in 2018 and 2019 as part of the initial investigation,\u201d the news release said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cSince then, the owner of the spa pleaded guilty last June 2022 to five felony counts of practicing medicine without a license,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.krqe.com\/news\/crime\/vampire-facial-spa-owner-sentenced-to-prison-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KRQE-TV<\/a>, Maria Ramos De Ruiz was sentenced to three and a half years in prison last year.<\/p>\n<p>But if the salon was closed nearly five years ago, why the newfound consternation?<\/p>\n<p>Those unlicensed ventures were thrust back into the spotlight when the state Health Department identified a 2023 case of HIV \u201cassociated with the VIP Spa,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>That newest HIV case prompted the call to action for potentially infected individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Alarmingly, the department warned even those with an \u201cindirect connection\u201d to VIP Spa services to get tested, saying it has \u201cidentified additional HIV infections fictitious, nocturnal blood-suckers made so famous by the Bram Stokers of the world \u2014 and the process is horrifying in its own right.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/hiv-cases-linked-new-mexico-salon-vampire-facials-rcna93054\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a>, it involves drawing blood from a certain part of the body (the arm being the most common).<\/p>\n<p>That blood is then separated from the \u201cplatelet-rich plasma\u201d that exists within it.<\/p>\n<p>After one\u2019s face is pricked with \u201cmicroneedles,\u201d the plasma is applied to it.<\/p>\n<p>The purported benefits don\u2019t sound all that different from a standard Botox injection \u2014 vampire injections aim to
