According to Cowboy State Daily, while some panels at the Scottsbluff Community Solar project in Nebraska will still be usable, a significant number will be too badly damaged to be salvaged.<\/p>\n<p>The issue of solar panel disposal is not a new one. CBS reports that over 90 percent of damaged, defective, or outdated panels end up in landfills. Cowboy State Daily reported that the storm originated in Wyoming and wreaked havoc on the neighboring state&#8217;s solar farm.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Spencer, the City Manager of Scottsbluff, expressed his dismay, stating, &#8220;Just by looking at it, it looks destroyed to me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>The Challenge of Recycling Solar Panels<\/h3>\n<p>Recycling damaged or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/media-silent-on-biden-admin-plan-to-use-public-land-for-solar-farms\/\" title=\"Media Silent on Biden Admin Plan to Use Public Land For Solar Farms\">discarded solar panels<\/a> is often not a viable option. Kevin Killough, writing for Cowboy State Daily, described the shattered panels as resembling &#8220;missing teeth in a white smile.&#8221; The low mineral content of solar panels makes recycling them impractical.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Solar panels cannot be recycled, nor can they be sent to landfill. Due to cadmium, lead, arsenic etc used in construction they are classed as hazardous waste. The report highlights the environmental concerns associated with solar panel disposal, as the materials used in their construction, such as cadmium, lead, and arsenic, classify them as hazardous waste.<\/p>\n<p>B.F. Randall, an expert on recycling materials from solar panels, explained that the panels contain very little mineral content, making traditional recycling methods ineffective.
