Version: 4.0.47--><h2>An Influencer-Backed Energy Drink Under Scrutiny for High Caffeine Levels<\/h2>\n<p>An influencer-backed energy drink that has earned viral popularity among children is facing scrutiny from lawmakers and health experts over its potentially dangerous levels of caffeine.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Democratic Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/camera-captures-schumers-notes-fellow-dems-health-status-eyebrows-raised-office-contradicts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles Schumer<\/a> of New York called on the Food and Drug Administration to investigate PRIME, a beverage brand founded by the YouTube stars <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/social-media-mega-star-logan-paul-gets-stunning-wake-call-defamed-jesus-god-felt-wrath\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Logan Paul<\/a> and KSI that has become something of an obsession among the influencers\u2019 legions of young followers.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOne of the summer\u2019s hottest status symbols for kids is not an outfit, or a toy \u2014 it\u2019s a beverage,\u201d Schumer said. \u201cBut buyer and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/right-musk-seems-agree-major-change-voting-rights-starting-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">parents<\/a> beware because it\u2019s a serious health concern for the kids it so feverishly targets.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Backed by two of YouTube\u2019s best known stars, PRIME was an immediate sensation when it launched last year, prompting long lines in grocery stores and reports of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senator-calls-on-fda-to-investigate-new-drinks-not-recommended-for-children-under-18\/\" title=\"Senator urges FDA to probe new beverages: 'Inappropriate for minors'\">school yard resale markets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Advertising itself as zero sugar and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chef-causes-meltdown-bans-vegans-restaurant-mental-health-reasons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vegan<\/a>, the neon-colored cans are among a growing number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-worse-than-we-thought-complete-list-of-armaments-us-is-leaving-to-taliban-and-islamist-groups-enough-to-fortify-them-for-years-secret-warehouse-of-us-equipment-captur\/\" title=\"It\u2019s Worse Than We Thought: Complete List of Armaments US Is Leaving to Taliban and Islamist Groups \u2014 Enough to Fortify Them for Years \u2013 Secret Warehouse of US Equipment Captured?\">energy drinks<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/navalny-moved-to-prison-medical-ward-for-vitamin-therapy-u-s-warns-of-consequences-if-he-dies-in-prison\/\" title=\"Navalny Moved To Prison Medical Ward For \u2018Vitamin Therapy,\u2019 U.S. Warns Of \u2018Consequences\u2019 If He Dies In Prison\">elevated levels<\/a> of caffeine; in PRIME\u2019s case, 200 milligrams per 12 ounces, equivalent to about half a dozen Coke cans or nearly two Red Bulls.<\/p>\n<p>That high content prompted bans from some schools in the United Kingdom and Australia where some pediatricians warned of possible health impacts on young children, such as heart problems, anxiety, and digestive issues.<\/p>\n<p>Company representatives, meanwhile, have defended the product as clearly labeled \u201cnot recommended for children under 18.\u201d They sell a separate sports drink, known as PRIME Hydration, which contains no caffeine at all.
