My mother in Macon, Georgia, &#8230; and I would have to go to church in order to go to the movie&#8221; on Sunday evening, Little Richard recounted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But I&#8217;ve always loved God. In my hometown, if you didn&#8217;t love God, you didn&#8217;t have anything, because it was so prejudiced back in that time. I had to do what I was doing in order to survive,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Letterman next questioned Little Richard if his religious inclinations created an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/leaked-teacher-training-video-shows-how-cultish-critical-race-theory-is-being-pushed-on-virginia-teachers\/\" title=\"Leaked Teacher Training Video Shows How Cultish Critical Race Theory Is Being Pushed On Virginia Teachers\">internal struggle<\/a> since he was living such a flamboyant lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Little Richard responded, first talking about his father, saying he experienced conflict in his home.<\/p>\n<p>The singer shared how he was kicked out of the house as a teenager of 16 or 17, both because he was disobedient and gay.<\/p>\n<p>Little Richard recalled his father saying to him, &#8220;I wanted seven boys and you are messing it up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;But God gave me the victory. I&#8217;m not gay now. I was gay all my life. I believe I was one of the first gay people to come out. But God let me know, &#8216;I made Adam to be with Eve, not Steve,&#8217; so I gave my heart to Christ,&#8221; Little Richard said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m a man for the first time in my life.
