It\u2019s not my company, and when you work for someone else that person reserves the right \u2014 in fact, has inherently the right \u2014 to decide whether you work there or not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I don\u2019t know why I was fired \u2014 I really don\u2019t. I\u2019m not angry about it. You can believe me or not, but I think you can feel that I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Carlson said he wished Fox well and noted there were ugly leaks about his departure, claiming racism on his part, but he ascribed the leaking, not to the company, but to someone within it, and was confident Fox knew the accusations against him were not true.<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, Carlson and Brand discussed varied issues, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/russell-brand-shreds-media-hypocrisy-trump-compares-authoritarian-attack-clinton-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>, populism, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-tucker-carlson-message-leftist-media-bobby-kennedy-winning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.<\/a>, January 6, the war in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-says-plan-solve-ukraine-war-24-hours-reelected\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine<\/a>, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Tellingly, Carlson hinted at the repercussions of opposing the Ukrainian war, something he has done.<\/p>\n<h3>Did Fox News make a mistake firing Tucker Carlson?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Overall, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biographer-claims-exodus-underway-tucker-carlsons-team-growing-bigger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-to-end-jake-tappers-primetime-show\/\" title=\"CNN to End Jake Tapper's Primetime Show\">longtime media personality<\/a><\/a> was philosophical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been happy,\u201d Carlson said following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tucker-carlsons-first-episode-smashes-expectations-goes-viral-within-24-hours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox firing<\/a>. \u201cI guess the only thing that bothers me is I\u2019m 54, and when you get a little bit older, and my wife and I \u2014 you know, our children are grown \u2014 and we live in rural settings\u2026because we believe in nature and God and dogs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, you can lose your drive,\u201d Carlson said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s just a little bit too nice, kind of.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I do feel that people who are healthy and aware and who can read have an obligation to be engaged in the life of the community they live in and in the life of the country they live and in the life of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There was the question of President Donald Trump, especially due to a release of a private communication indicating Carlson\u2019s disdain for the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love Trump, personally,\u201d Carlson told Brand, admitting that in the past he had personally gotten involved in behind-the-scenes political activity, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pork-in-the-covid-package-can-the-gop-trim-the-fat\/\" title=\"Pork in the COVID Package: Can the GOP Trim the Fat?\">making phone calls<\/a> and predictions, most of which, he said, turned out to be wrong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not interested in politics. I never have been interested in politics. I\u2019m interested in ideas, I\u2019m interested in people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saying he will no longer be directly involved in politics, Carlson nevertheless predicted that, within a decade, it\u2019s possible that Trump coming on the scene may be recognized as the most significant American political event in a hundred years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause he re-oriented the Republican Party, against the wishes of Republican leaders,\u201d Carlson said, noting populist presidents and presidential candidates of American history \u2014 Theodore Roosevelt, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Ross Perot and Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll four of those figures had one thing in common: They were from the world they criticized,\u201d according to Carlson.\u00a0 As a result, as insiders, they could criticize what they had seen, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Of the war in Ukraine, Carlson \u2014 denying he was predicting or advocating for the former president \u2014 noted that Trump has been the only Republican of stature to oppose it. \u201cHe\u2019s right,\u201d according to Carlson.\u00a0 \u201cAnd everyone in Washington is wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carlson also noted his personal affection for Kennedy and the high personal cost for him, as the son of the assassinated 1960s senator and nephew of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/funeral-of-slain-haiti-president-prompts-protests\/\" title=\"Funeral of slain Haiti President prompts protests\">assassinated president<\/a>, to go against the establishment of which his family is a part.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson was appalled by violence during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol incursion, but noted government and media lied about the event, claiming it was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tucker-carlson-reveals-how-he-really-feels-about-fox-firing-in-first-sit-down-interview-since-departure\/\" title=\"Tucker Carlson's Candid Thoughts on Fox Firing in Recent Interview\">racist white supremacist insurrection<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said the event was the result of people\u2019s concern that the election had been stolen, and his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tucker-drops-jan-6-bombshell-unaired-fox-interview-capitol-police-chief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with the chief of Capitol Police confirmed, as many have believed, that the event was filled with federal agents.<\/p>\n<p>Pressed more by Brand about the reasons for the parting with Fox, Carlson replied: \u201cI honestly don\u2019t know\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t agree with me, of course, I don\u2019t think. But they were always very nice to me and they always let me say what I want.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot one time did they tell me not to say anything. So I was always grateful to Fox and I am, in retrospect, grateful to Fox for that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that never changed, up until the moment they called me in and said, you know, \u2018we\u2019re taking the show off the air.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, you know, I can only speculate \u2026 But I do think as a general matter \u2013 not even about me: The war in Ukraine is a red line, for a lot of people in business and politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026 The U.S. could force a peace, like, tonight. They could. Uniquely, they have that power. And they won\u2019t.
