PFAS exposure has also been linked to abnormal cholesterol levels, hormone suppression, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nih.gov\/news-events\/nih-research-matters\/study-links-synthetic-chemicals-liver-damage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">liver damage<\/a>. Last summer, the EPA issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/newsreleases\/epa-announces-new-drinking-water-health-advisories-pfas-chemicals-1-billion-bipartisan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health advisory<\/a> about the lingering chemicals, raising the alarm that exposure was more dangerous than previously known. The agency updated guidelines from 2016 to reset determined risk exposure to two of the most widely studied chemicals, PFOA and PFOS, from <a href=\"https:\/\/19january2021snapshot.epa.gov\/sites\/static\/files\/2017-12\/documents\/ffrrofactsheet_contaminants_pfos_pfoa_11-20-17_508_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">70<\/a> parts per trillion to nearly zero.<\/p>\n<p>The new data published by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on Wednesday revealed 45 percent of the nation\u2019s tap water contained at least one or more types of \u201cforever chemicals.\u201d Researchers measured for just 32 different kinds of PFAS out of more than 12,000 that exist. Samples were taken from 716 locations between 2016 and 2021. <\/p>\n<p><strong>The map from the USGS below outlines PFAS concentrations in tap water locations found throughout the United States.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bdd7e9e653a0341c64ad710ebb72c28b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bdd7e9e653a0341c64ad710ebb72c28b\"><\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>The widespread contamination of tap water raises significant concerns for public health in a nation where life expectancy is suffering its first significant <a href=\"https:\/\/publichealth.jhu.edu\/2022\/life-expectancy-is-declining-in-the-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decline <\/a>in more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1040079\/life-expectancy-united-states-all-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">100 <\/a>years. Americans who live through the next century are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9881650\/#:~:text=The%20number%20of%20people%20in,to%20142.66%20million%20by%202050.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">projected <\/a>to suffer an epidemic of chronic illness, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/chronicdisease\/index.htm#:~:text=Regular%20physical%20activity%20helps%20improve,fitness%2C%20and%20quality%20of%20life.&#038;text=CDC%27s%20NCCDPHP%20believes%20that%20all,to%20live%20their%20healthiest%20life.&#038;text=Six%20in%20ten%20Americans%20live,stroke%2C%20cancer%2C%20or%20diabetes.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">6 in 10<\/a> Americans already living with at least one chronic disease. <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Keith Nichols, a certified member of the American Academy of Endocrinology and CEO of Tier 1 Health and Wellness in East Tennessee, blames the nation\u2019s incumbent health crises on low testosterone levels driven down by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-surprising-causes-behind-the-insulin-resistance-epidemic\/\" title=\"The Surprising Causes Behind the Insulin Resistance Epidemic\">endocrine-disrupting chemicals<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[We\u2019re seeing] increased morbidity across the board with low testosterone,\u201d Nichols <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/01\/healthy-males-have-high-sex-drives-but-todays-men-dont\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The Federalist in February. <\/p>\n<p>Levels of testosterone, a central hormone for metabolic function, have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/neilhowe\/2017\/10\/02\/youre-not-the-man-your-father-was\/?sh=79aace348b7f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dropped <\/a>by double digits since the 1980s, and have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/01\/healthy-males-have-high-sex-drives-but-todays-men-dont\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">continued to drop<\/a> with each generation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dc5d7e05e0f49e13219b1c15b83cd354 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dc5d7e05e0f49e13219b1c15b83cd354\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAll this decline has correlated with the increase in environmental chemicals,\u201d Nichols told The Federalist. \u201cWe are being chemically castrated by our environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Jay, the president of the International Medical Research Collaborative, published a book in 2017 warning about the proliferation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/think-twice-before-drinking-from-the-tap-federal-study-finds-forever-chemicals-may-be-poisoning-your-water\/\" title=\"Beware: 'Forever Chemicals' in Tap Water May Harm You\">estrogenic substances contaminating everyday life<\/a>. In his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.porchlightbooks.com\/product\/estrogeneration-how-estrogenics-are-making-you-fat-sick-and-infertile--anthony-g-jay\/isbn\/9781946546012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">book<\/a>, \u201cEstrogeneration: How Estrogenics Are Making You Fat, Sick, and Infertile,\u201d Jay dedicated an entire section to substances found in presumably \u201cclean\u201d drinking water. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCity water \u2018treatment plants,&#8217;\u201d Jay found, \u201care not effectively removing estrogenics.\u201d And if city water treatment plants are failing to filter out pollutants such as phthalates and atrazine, they\u2019re certainly prone to miss far more, as demonstrated by the USGS this week with the discovery of PFAS in nearly half the nation\u2019s water supplies. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese chemicals should not have been legal to begin with,\u201d Jay told The Federalist of the PFAS detection survey. \u201cOur municipal water suppliers are good at killing viruses and bacteria but they are not good at filtering out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bombshell-study-confirms-this-daily-drink-lowers-iq\/\" title=\"Bombshell Study Confirms This Daily Drink Lowers IQ\">hormone-disrupting chemicals<\/a>.
