tested them.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out, some are selling oxy &#038; Adderall over the counter \u2013 but the pills are actually fentanyl &#038; meth. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zDmaCVJ5K6\">https:\/\/t.co\/zDmaCVJ5K6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Keri Blakinger (@keribla) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/keribla\/status\/1621162176802357249?\">February 2, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As a result of the recent operation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/authorities-raid-pharmacies-at-popular-tourist-destination-were-americans-buying-fentanyl-laced-meds\/\" title=\"Pharmacies at Tourist Hotspot Raided: Americans Purchasing Fentanyl-Contaminated Medications?\">authorities seized approximately 25<\/a>,000 pills containing unauthorized controlled substances, but no fentanyl or methamphetamine, according to Alejandro Torres Pineda, a delegate of the attorney general\u2019s office in Baja California Sur, as reported by the Times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re continuing the investigations,&#8221; Pineda said in a phone interview with the Times last week.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized the importance of these seizures, stating that they help inhibit the sale of controlled medicines, protect the health of citizens, and ensure the regulation of medications sold in pharmacies.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the raids, federal authorities in Mexico interviewed individuals at various pharmacies in Los Cabos and discovered a customer with unregulated pills, leading to the subsequent permission granted by a judge to conduct the raids at five different locations in June.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Times, these raids resulted in the confiscation of thousands of dollars in cash and the arrests of three pharmacy employees and one business owner.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In terms of security, the work coordinated by three levels of government is yielding good results, with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of locals and visitors,&#8221; said Jes\u00fas Antonio G\u00f3mez Rodr\u00edguez, the municipal director of public safety in Los Cabos, as reported by the Times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s protecting the health of our young people who can fall into the clutches of drugs, as well as the numerous groups of visitors who come to our municipality to enjoy its natural beauties and tourist services,&#8221; Rodr\u00edguez added.<\/p>\n<h3>The Danger of Illicit Fentanyl<\/h3>\n<p data-inc=\"1\">Illicit fentanyl is largely responsible for the more than 100,000 overdose deaths in the U.S. in 2021.<\/p>\n<p data-inc=\"1\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dea.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-03\/DEA_GOV_DIR-008-20%20Fentanyl%20Flow%20in%20the%20United%20States_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drug Enforcement Administration<\/a>, this synthetic drug is primarily produced by cartels in Mexico using precursor chemicals from China.<\/p>\n<p data-inc=\"1\">Mary Harrell, whose son tragically died after taking a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dea-issues-public-safety-alert-amid-surge-of-counterfeit-pills\/\" title=\"DEA issues public safety alert amid surge of counterfeit pills\">fentanyl-laced pill<\/a> from a pharmacy in Cabo San Lucas, expressed her desire for more serious and timely actions from Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not going to stop,&#8221;
