However, it seems that China, a major source of fentanyl, will not be participating.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be hosting a meeting on Friday with representatives from 84 countries to discuss these efforts, according to the State Department. The goal is to bring together responsible nations to address the synthetic drug threat.<\/p>\n<p>Despite China&#8217;s significant role as a source of precursor chemicals used to produce fentanyl, there is no indication that they intend to participate in this coalition. Assistant Secretary for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Todd D. Robinson stated that while China has been invited, their participation is uncertain at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson emphasized that this is just the beginning of the process and expressed hope that all responsible countries will eventually join the coalition in the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>The Drug Enforcement Administration has identified China as the primary source of fentanyl and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fentanyl-deaths-skyrocket-becoming-nations-leading-killer-for-adults-age-18-45\/\" title=\"Fentanyl Deaths Skyrocket, Becoming Nation\u2019s Leading Killer For Adults Age 18-45\">related substances trafficked<\/a> into the United States. Fentanyl is responsible for a significant number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">drug overdose deaths<\/a> in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n<p>In late May, the Department of Treasury announced sanctions targeting Chinese individuals and manufacturers involved in fentanyl trafficking to the U.S.<\/p>\n<h3>China Denies Involvement, but Cooperation with Biden Administration Continues<\/h3>\n<p>China has denied its involvement in the fentanyl crisis in the U.S. illicit drug market. However, Robinson assured reporters that the Chinese government is working with the Biden administration on counternarcotics efforts.<\/p>\n<p>While China may not be engaging directly with the United States on this issue, they are in communication with other countries. The goal of the coalition is to engage these countries in the fight against fentanyl and encourage their cooperation with China.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson emphasized that this is a global problem that requires a global response.
