However, that\u2019s only part of the picture.<\/p>\n<p>Because of income from businesses and investments, the West Virginia Democrat\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">net worth<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalism.com\/joe-manchins-net-worth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimated<\/a> to be in the neighborhood of $12 million, or about four to 12 times what the typical American man will bring in during his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disgrace-to-his-office-ben-shapiro-calls-for-bidens-impeachment-resignation\/\" title=\"\u2018Disgrace To His Office\u2019: Ben Shapiro Calls For Biden\u2019s Impeachment, Resignation\">entire lifetime<\/a>, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/research-summaries\/education-earnings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social Security Administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So you\u2019d think Manchin would be able to pay his taxes on time. According to a Thursday report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/sen-manchin-failed-pay-taxes-time-joining-democrats-struggled-similar-issue-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>, however, that\u2019s not always been the case.<\/p>\n<p>Just last week, according to Fox, Manchin paid three years of back taxes to Marion County, West Virginia, to the tune of $700.<\/p>\n<p>Three years ago, he made a similar payment in the amount of $630 for taxes that were at that time between two and four years past due.<\/p>\n<p>In both cases, the taxes seemed to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/citizens-try-scrape-pandemic-dem-mayor-tries-32-property-tax-hike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">property taxes<\/a> related to vehicles, including boats and trailers.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, Manchin\u2019s team downplayed the senator\u2019s avoidance of his legal and civic responsibilities.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLike most West Virginians, Senator Manchin has always paid every tax bill he\u2019s received in full and any lapse in payment has been quickly rectified as soon as he has been made aware,\u201d a spokesperson told Fox News.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>More surprisingly, the county that was owed the taxes also downplayed the incidents.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pretty sure this is something that just has not been brought to his attention or merely slipped off the radar,\u201d Marion County Clerk Julie Kincaid told Fox. \u201cIt\u2019s probably one of those mountain-out-of-a-molehill situations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, I get it, he\u2019s very <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ice-bucket-challenge-activist-dies-age-37\/\" title=\"Ice Bucket Challenge Activist Dies Age 37\">high-profile<\/a>,\u201d she added, calling the news of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/high-profile-democrat-fails-to-pay-taxes-on-time-despite-at-least-7-figure-net-worth\/\" title=\"Prominent Democrat Neglects Timely Tax Payments Despite Wealth\">late payments \u201ctremendously overblown<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>(Not surprisingly at all, Kincaid told Fox she was a Democrat.)<\/p>\n<p>Manchin, one of the most moderate Democrats still holding a Senate seat, faces a potentially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/joe-manchin-slapped-brutal-2024-election-news-powerful-republican-set-win-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tough re-election battle<\/a> next year, with two well-known Republicans in the state already stepping into the ring to challenge him.<\/p>\n<p>According to West Virginia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.wv.gov\/elections\/Documents\/VoterRegistrationTotals\/2020\/Feb2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Office of the Secretary of State<\/a>, registered Republicans outnumber registered Democrats in the state, 39.1 percent to 33.2 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin has not yet announced whether he will run again next year.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin has spent most of his life in elected office.
