The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-votes-to-seek-jail-time-for-former-trump-officials-held-in-contempt\/\" title=\"House Votes To Seek Jail Time For Former Trump Officials Held In Contempt\">committee aims<\/a> to investigate the incident and assess White House security practices.<\/p>\n<p>Describing the finding of the illegal substance on July 2 as &#8220;unacceptable and a shameful moment in the White House&#8217;s history,&#8221; Mr. Comer emphasized the need to determine the failures that led to the evacuation of the building.<\/p>\n<p>The White House initially stated that the cocaine was found near the West Wing, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/review-2000-mules\/\" title=\"REVIEW: \u20182000 Mules\u2019\">heavily trafficked area<\/a>. However, subsequent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/white-house\/cocaine-found-white-house-was-different-location-previously-reported-s-rcna92906\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reporting<\/a> by NBC News revealed that the bag was actually discovered near the Situation Room, an area not accessible to the public.<\/p>\n<p>According to sources familiar with the Secret Service probe, the illegal drug was found in an entrance area between the foyer and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wh-cocaine-found-near-situation-room-different-location-from-what-was-originally-reported\/\" title=\"Cocaine discovered near Situation Room, not where initially stated.\">lower-level lobby<\/a>, close to where certain vehicles, such as the vice president&#8217;s limo or SUV, park.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that the cocaine made it through the tight Secret Service security has raised concerns about the level of security maintained at the White House. The Secret Service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/secret-service-confirms-cocaine-found-in-white-house-possibly-dropped-by-authorized-person_5376791.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acknowledged<\/a> that the substance could have been left by an authorized entrant or White House employee.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman Comer has requested a briefing on the incident by July 14, expressing his concerns about the security measures in place at the White House.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) has also sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cotton.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/secret_service_letter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> to Director Cheatle, demanding answers regarding the presence of illicit drugs in an area where confidential information is exchanged.
