No serious person who isn\u2019t operating in bad faith would contest this fact. But it also, at least historically, serves an important purpose: solving high-level national crimes that local and state agencies lack the resources or personnel to solve.<\/p>\n<p>That said, following the release of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justice.gov\/storage\/durhamreport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Durham report<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/21\/the-twitter-files-reveal-big-techs-unholy-alliance-with-the-feds-exists-to-control-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">publication<\/a> of the \u201cTwitter Files,\u201d it is undeniable that left-wing partisan actors have thoroughly weaponized the nation\u2019s largest intelligence agency against their ideological adversaries. The FBI must not be allowed to continue abusing the public, and in the event that holistically eliminating the institution is not an option, it must be majorly reformed to end its reign of terror.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Once America\u2019s premier domestic law enforcement agency, dedicated to protecting the American way of life from organized crime and terrorist conspiracies, the FBI has now become an adversary of freedom in the eyes of many Americans, misappropriated for partisan political purposes, abusing its national security powers for the suppression of free expression and religious dissent and for the harassment of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\" title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won't Enforce COVID Curfew\">law-abiding citizens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>How to Fix the FBI: A Report by Steven Bradbury<\/h3>\n<p>A soon-to-be-published report written by the former Acting Secretary of Transportation Steven Bradbury for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Heritage Foundation<\/a> titled \u201cHow to Fix the FBI\u201d addresses this head-on.<\/p>\n<p>Exploring various steps Congress could take to reign in this part of America\u2019s rogue intelligence apparatus, Bradbury\u2019s report details specific reforms that could mitigate the federal bureaucracy\u2019s rabid partisan bias through nothing short of a complete structural overhaul of the agency.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasizing how the FBI squandered Americans\u2019 goodwill through systemic abuse, the report states:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe Bureau has expanded the scope and use of its own intelligence-gathering powers in dangerous ways, directing them increasingly at political movements that threaten the Washington establishment and at the exercise of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/big-tech-censorship-left-wing-violence-in-national-spotlight\/\" title=\"Big Tech censorship, left-wing violence in national spotlight\">constitutionally protected rights<\/a> by ordinary Americans,\u201d Bradbury writes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In recent years, the FBI and the agency it\u2019s housed within, the Department of Justice, notably disenfranchised concerned parents by branding them as terrorists for opposing public school boards\u2019 ideological misconduct, flagged online Covid-19 skepticism, and burned piles of cash investigating and tracking down Jan. 6 protesters instead of prioritizing actual security and safety risks like the flourishing human trafficking and synthetic fentanyl industries.<\/p>\n<p>And referring to the ongoing debate over whether to recertify Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), Bradbury raises the point that the FBI abused this process to gather intelligence on Americans who were obviously not engaged in foreign espionage.<\/p>\n<p>He writes, \u201cFBI has improperly queried the database more than 278,000 times, including to gather information about U.S. persons who were crime victims, suspected January 6 rioters, people arrested at Black Lives Matter protests, and even 19,000 donors to a congressional candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whether these individuals were complicit in illegal activity is irrelevant \u2014 the FBI abused the resources at its disposal to disregard the free speech protections of American citizens. Members of the agency even opened intelligence queries on maintenance men.<\/p>\n<p>The report breaks down \u201cbig things to consider if you are completely rebuilding the FBI,\u201d Bradbury told The Federalist. \u201cIt\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-risch-wont-lift-hold-on-palestinian-aid-without-guarantee-taxpayer-money-is-kept-from-terrorists\/\" title=\"Sen. Risch Won\u2019t Lift Hold on Palestinian Aid Without Guarantee Taxpayer Money Is Kept From Terrorists\">longer-term project<\/a>,\u201d Bradbury said, \u201c[but] in the meantime, there are specific reforms that need to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This process of \u201c[r]eimagining the FBI from the [g]round up\u201d would likely involve carefully redefining and narrowing the jurisdiction and scope of the new agency, relocating the agency\u2019s intelligence-gathering functions, establishing distinct components within the agency specifically focused on assisting the solving of local and state crime, reallocating resources and personnel to field offices, isolating and purging \u201cinformation improperly collected on Americans,\u201d and more.<\/p>\n<p>But at a minimum, Bradbury contends, it must include \u201cprohibit[ing] the FBI from participating directly in Section 702 surveillance and from querying the 702 collection on its own authority,\u201d holistically reforming the FISA process by \u201cappoint[ing] an amicus in all politically sensitive cases involving U.S. persons,\u201d amending the length of the FBI director\u2019s tenure, seriously considering reforms to the Hatch Act so that it applies to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-media-told-us-the-bombshell-hunter-biden-scandal-was-russian-disinformation-he-just-admitted-the-laptop-could-be-his\/\" title=\"The Media Told Us The \u2018Bombshell\u2019 Hunter Biden Scandal Was Russian Disinformation. He Just Admitted The Laptop \u2018Could\u2019 Be His\">senior intelligence officials<\/a> so they are held responsible as long as they possess a security clearance, and reorganizing the agency\u2019s reporting structure so the assistant attorneys general for the criminal division and for national security can ensure better management.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of 9\/11 and the Global War on Terror, the FBI and its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-how-congress-can-end-the-fbis-reign-of-terror\/\" title=\"Congress can stop the FBI's reign of terror.\">peer institutions experienced immense mission creep<\/a> in which ideological actors felt emboldened to use the vast resources of the federal government against the American people while undermining the U.S. Constitution, throwing things like federalism and due process under the bus.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning in these rogue actors is crucial to preserving the American republic.
