I was like, I can\u2019t go on tour, I feel too s***. And I was cut off from my friends because I wasn\u2019t partying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said through a self-help book, he stopped looking externally and turned inward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started thinking about that emptiness, and in that moment God just made perfect sense,\u201d the rockstar said. \u201cI mean, like I said, I\u2019ve still never been religious. And I\u2019ve tried \u2014 I\u2019ve been to churches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought there might be a sense of community [in church],\u201d he added. \u201cIn the \u201980s I\u2019d go to churches in South L.A. as an atheist. I had a friend who knew where the best gospel groups were coming through, so I\u2019d go, and it would be incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>And these days, Balzary said he prays multiple times daily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a praying guy,\u201d Flea told the Times. \u201cI pray in the morning when I get up, when I go to bed, when I eat. And when I do an interview, I\u2019ll just stop for a second \u2014 like, let me get out of the way and let go of everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not religious in any way, but I kind of believe in God,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I try to live a life that honors my idea of what God is \u2014 like a divine energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Power of Faith<\/h3>\n<p>The bassist recently welcomed his third child, Darius, with his wife, streetwear designer Melody Ehsani, into the world.
