Customers will no longer be allowed to tip. Parker and Stone acquired Casa Bonita in Lakewood, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/colorado\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Colorado<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, for $3.1 million in 2021 after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/south-park-creators-set-wage-at-30-per-hour-ban-tipping-at-their-colorado-restaurant\/\" title=\"'South Park' creators establish \/hour wage, prohibit tipping at Colorado eatery.\">previous owners declared bankruptcy due<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-did-you-say-it-john-kennedy-and-biden-nominee-trade-barbs-in-heated-exchange\/\" title=\"\u2018Why Did You Say It?\u2019: John Kennedy And Biden Nominee Trade Barbs In Heated Exchange\">financial hardships caused<\/a> by the COVID pandemic, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/south-park-creators-to-set-30-dollar-an-hour-wage-ban-tipping-casa-bonita-restaurant-7556562\">People<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Currently, Colorado has a minimum wage of $13.65 per hour, which means the staff at Casa Bonita will be earning $16.35 more than the minimum wage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Casa Bonita is renowned for its extravagant entertainment and animatronics, offering more than just food. The restaurant&#8217;s website promises diners a unique experience with &#8220;Mex eats &#038; pageantry such as divers plunging into a pool below a 30-ft. waterfall &#038; puppet shows.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Parker, who had childhood birthday parties at Casa Bonita, and Stone have been praised for reviving the venue. The Denver Gazette even refers to Casa Bonita as the \u201cDisneyland of Mexican restaurants.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDuring our soft-opening nights, we noticed that guests simply weren&#8217;t tipping. We believe this is due to our unconventional, pre-pay ticketing system,\u201d explained a Casa Bonita spokesperson to FOX 31 KDVR, as reported by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/07\/03\/casa-bonita-restaurant-to-pay-staff-30-an-hour-ban-tipping-amid-south-park-creators-trey-parker-matt-stone-relaunch\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The New York Post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cTo provide a higher-than-average, dependable wage, we have transitioned to a no-tipping model and doubled the hourly rate to over $30\/hr for our service staff,\u201d the spokesperson added. \u201cThis change also benefits our guests, who can now enjoy Casa Bonita without unexpected costs. Out of our 256 employees, 93 were part of this transition, and only 2 expressed dissatisfaction.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In an interview with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/06\/us\/casa-bonita-restaurant.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The New York Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Parker and Stone discussed their purchase of Casa Bonita and the subsequent improvements made to the establishment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt doesn&#8217;t smell like chlorine anymore,\u201d Stone remarked. \u201cWe could have built it twice as big for half the cost, but we invested heavily in restoring it, treating it like a work of art.
