They also raised concerns about potential violations of state child protection and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/education-reformers-warn-parental-rights-bills-may-actually-be-a-step-toward-greater-govt-control-over-children\/\" title=\"Education Reformers Warn: \u2018Parental Rights\u2019 Bills May Actually Be a Step Toward Greater Gov't Control over Children\">parental rights laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAs Attorneys General committed to enforcing our States\u2019 child-protection and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/7-attorneys-general-sign-letter-blasting-target-for-pushing-pride-campaign-on-children\/\" title=\"7 AGs Slam Target for Promoting 'Pride Campaign' to Kids\">parental-rights laws<\/a> and our States\u2019 economic interests as Target shareholders, we are concerned by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chess-fide-shares-carlsens-concerns-about-the-damage-of-cheating-in-the-sport-2\/\" title=\"Chess-FIDE shares Carlsen\u2019s concerns about the damage of cheating in the sport\">recent events involving<\/a> the company\u2019s \u2018Pride\u2019 campaign,\u201d the officials wrote in a letter to Target CEO Brian Cornell. \u201cOur concerns entail the company\u2019s promotion and sale of potentially harmful products to minors, related potential interference with parental authority in matters of sex and gender identity, and possible violation of fiduciary duties by the company\u2019s directors and officers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The letter did not specify the actions the attorneys general might take in their respective states. It was signed by Mr. Rokita and attorneys general from Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and South Carolina.<\/p>\n<h3>Backlash and Share Price Drop<\/h3>\n<p>Target faced significant backlash earlier this year when it unveiled its &#8220;pride month&#8221; collection. Conservative influencers on social media highlighted certain products, leading to public outcry. Target later removed some items from its collection, including LGBT-themed books, baby clothes, and toys.<\/p>\n<p>One controversial item that drew attention was a swimsuit intended for biological males who identify as transgender women. Target clarified that the item was only intended for adults, not children.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the controversy, Target&#8217;s shares dropped from around $160 on May 16 to $130 by May 31.<\/p>\n<h3>Concerns Over Target&#8217;s Leadership<\/h3>\n<p>In their letter, Mr. Rokita and the attorneys general suggested that Target&#8217;s actions may have put its shareholders at risk and accused the company&#8217;s leadership of acting negligently.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLosses of this magnitude\u2014caused by isolating Target\u2019s core customers\u2014raise concerns that Target\u2019s board and management may have acted negligently,\u201d the letter stated. \u201cFurther evidence suggests Target\u2019s leadership may have acted on collateral interests. Directors and officers must act solely in the best interest of the company.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Target CEO Brian Cornell previously defended the LGBT-friendly merchandise, stating that selling them at Target is &#8220;the right thing for society.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>New Controversy: Book Censorship<\/h3>\n<p>This week, Target faced criticism again when Fox News host Mark Levin claimed that the company refused to sell his book critical of Democrats and President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration.
