If it were truly a champion of diversity and inclusion, it would accept our diverse views and be keen to include us,\u201d the organization responded. \u201cIt seems that Our Duty is the latest casualty in the LGBTQ+ staff networks\u2019 war on differing views.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On top of the bank\u2019s reported refusal to open a business account with Our Duty, Jordan said that their existing \u201ccommunity account\u201d with Metro Bank is \u201cunder review.\u201d The bank told Jordan via email that Our Duty\u2019s account violated guidelines that forbid community account holders from being \u201clinked to, or influenc[ing] political policies or legislations,\u201d The Telegraph <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2023\/07\/03\/most-high-street-banks-signed-up-stonewall-diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the bank of 2.5 million customers joined the Stonewall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stonewall.org.uk\/join-diversity-champions-programme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Diversity Champion Program<\/span><\/a>, a controversial scheme that promotes left-wing LGBTQ agenda items in the workplace. In 2021, the BBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/entertainment-arts-59232736\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">left<\/span><\/a> the program over concerns that the publication could not be neutral in public debates due to its affiliation with Stonewall.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Bank\u2019s alleged denial comes amid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12262157\/Equalities-chief-fathers-rights-charity-UKIP-councillor-claim-bank-accounts-shut.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reports<\/span><\/a> of British banks shutting the accounts of people based on their political or moral views, including an equalities commissioner, fathers\u2019 rights charity, and UKIP councilor.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) recently shut down the account of Scotland\u2019s Equality and Human Rights Commissioner Dr. Lesley Sawers, who works on women\u2019s and LGBT issues. Sawers\u2019 husband claimed RBS told him that she has \u201ca mark against her name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1688648178298000&#038;usg=AOvVaw10v0UGh9BJZV8inaPuI6t7\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The CEO of Families Needs Fathers, an organization that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-k-bank-refuses-to-open-account-for-conservative-parent-group-report\/\" title=\"UK bank denies account to conservative parent group: report\">helps children maintain relationships<\/a> with both parents after a divorce, told the Daily Mail that HSBC shut down their account in April \u201cwithout any warning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage <a href=\"https:\/\/talk.tv\/news\/23072\/what-is-the-real-reason-coutts-closed-nigel-farages-bank-account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">claimed<\/span><\/a> that Coutts bank closed his accounts and that nine other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lebanon-locals-buying-groceries-with-crypto-due-to-currency-collapse\/\" title=\"Lebanon Locals Buying Groceries With Crypto Due to Currency Collapse\">banks refused<\/a> to open accounts with him because of his political views.<\/p>\n<p>The British government is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12258933\/Rishi-Sunak-issues-warning-banks-blacklisting-customers-controversial-views.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">investigating<\/span><\/a> banks for shutting down accounts because of their customers\u2019 views on politics, Brexit, and gender ideology. However, the issue of banks retaliating against its customers for their political views is not limited to the U.K.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Daily Mail, a whistleblower from Santander \u2014 an American bank \u2014 said that the bank is on a \u201creally toxic path\u201d and has been \u201cpolicing the political views of their customers.\u201d He also said that LGBT activists pressured the company to close the account of a customer who told the company that \u201cbanks shouldn\u2019t support political causes\u201d in reaction to Pride flags at one of Santander\u2019s branches.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau worked with banks to freeze the accounts of those who protested his COVID mandates. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/02\/14\/world\/americas\/justin-trudeau-emergencies-act-canada.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The New York Times<\/span><\/a>, Canadian police officers exchanged protesters\u2019 personal information with banks, and insurance companies were required to revoke coverage for vehicles used in protests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Metro Bank, the UK&#8217;s seventh largest bank, allegedly declined to open a business account for Our Duty, a conservative parent group opposing gender transitions for minors.
