According to the whistleblowers, federal prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/delaware-prosecutors-hid-fbi-bribery-document-from-irs-investigators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">concealed<\/a> critical documents from tax investigators while officials from the Justice Department sought to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/irs-whistleblower-fbi-tipped-off-people-very-close-to-joe-and-hunter-before-irs-investigative-teams-day-of-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">undermine<\/a> IRS efforts altogether.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/irs-whistleblower-docs-show-doj-obstructed-investigation-into-his-son-to-protect-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRS Whistleblower Docs Show DOJ Obstructed Hunter Biden Probe To Protect President<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Republican House and Senate lawmakers led by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/grassley_johnson_comer_jordan_smith_to_osc_-_whistleblower_retaliation.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to the Office of Special Counsel urging the agency to open a probe into retaliatory conduct against the IRS whistleblowers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department of Justice (DOJ) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have reportedly engaged in unlawful whistleblower retaliation against veteran IRS employees,\u201d lawmakers wrote. \u201cMultiple news reports indicate that the whistleblower and investigative team were removed from the Hunter Biden investigation by the IRS at DOJ\u2019s request as retaliation for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senior-republicans-request-investigation-of-alleged-irs-whistleblower-retaliation\/\" title=\"Senior Republicans seek probe into alleged IRS whistleblower retaliation.\">making protected whistleblower disclosures<\/a> to Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson signed the letter with Missouri Rep. Jason Smith, who chairs the Ways and Means Committee; Kentucky Rep. James Comer, who chairs the Oversight Committee; and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, who chairs the Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe importance of protecting whistleblowers from unlawful retaliation and informing whistleblowers about their rights under the law cannot be understated,\u201d they wrote, without naming the whistleblowers. \u201cAfter all, <em>it is the law.<\/em> Accordingly, we request that you immediately investigate all allegations of retaliation against these IRS whistleblowers\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Transcripts of interviews between two IRS whistleblowers and Republicans on the Ways and Means Committee were made public last month after Hunter Biden struck a light <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/20\/hunter-bidens-plea-deal-is-a-coverup-disguised-as-justice\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=hunter-bidens-plea-deal-is-a-coverup-disguised-as-justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plea deal<\/a> with federal prosecutors. Hunter Biden pled guilty to two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/presidents-son-gets-sweetheart-deal-from-feds-on-gun-tax-charges\/\" title=\"President\u2019s Son Gets Sweetheart Deal From Feds on Gun, Tax Charges\">misdemeanor tax crimes<\/a> and a felony firearm violation. The latter charge will be <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/20\/hunter-bidens-wrist-slap-on-gun-tax-crimes-is-a-complete-smokescreen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">forgiven<\/a> following two years of sobriety and a forfeiture of gun ownership.<\/p>\n<p>The former chief of the DOJ\u2019s tax division <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/28\/former-head-of-doj-tax-division-urges-federal-judge-to-trash-hunter-biden-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a> an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal recommending the judge presiding over the agreement reject the deal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/irs-whistleblower-says-most-substantive-felony-charges-were-left-off-table-hunter-biden-probe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According<\/a> to whistleblower Gary Shapley, a veteran agent with the IRS who served on the case, \u201cthe most substantive felony charges were left off the table.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe weren\u2019t allowed to ask questions about \u2018dad,&#8217;\u201d Shapley said in an interview with Fox News. \u201cWe weren\u2019t allowed to ask about \u2018the big guy.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden did not pay taxes on $1.2 million between 2017 and 2018, Shapley <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/28\/hunter-biden-prosecutor-made-obstruction-crystal-clear-whistleblower\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> Bret Baier.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author of Social Justice Redux, a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness.
