Ron DeSantis by only 6 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p>Former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-swing-state-poll-spells-disaster-joe-biden-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> earned 49 percent support in the same poll.<\/p>\n<p>Political Polls on Twitter posted the results of the poll for the entire Republican field.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">2024 National Republican Primary:<\/p>\n<p>Trump 49% (+33)<br \/>\nDeSantis 16%<br \/>\nRamaswamy 10%<br \/>\nPence 5%<br \/>\nHaley 5%<br \/>\nT. Scott 4%<br \/>\nChristie 2%<br \/>\nSuarez 1%<br \/>\nBurgum 1%<br \/>\nYoungkin 0%<br \/>\nHutchinson 0%<br \/>\nPerry 0%<br \/>\nHurd 0%<br \/>\nElder 0%<br \/>\n.<br \/>\nHead-2-Head:<br \/>\nTrump 60% (+28)<br \/>\nDeSantis 32%<\/p>\n<p>.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EchelonInsights?\">@EchelonInsights<\/a>, 413 LV, 6\/26-29\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Political Polls (@Politics_Polls) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Politics_Polls\/status\/1676058638140559361?\">July 4, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/2024\/president\/us\/2024_republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Real Clear Politics<\/a> average of polls for the 2024 Republican Presidential Nomination, conducted June 5-26, shows Ramaswamy in sixth place at 2.4 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Echelon\u2019s new poll, therefore, represents a dramatic surge for Ramaswamy and a surprising challenge to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/desantis-reveals-eliminate-3-cabinet-departments-plus-irs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeSantis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another interesting aspect of the new poll involves a hypothetical head-to-head match-up between Trump and DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>In that event, Trump would command 60 percent support to DeSantis\u2019s 32 percent.<\/p>\n<p>One cannot prove from these numbers alone that Ramaswamy supporters shifted to Trump in the former president\u2019s match-up with DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, one cannot help noticing that Trump\u2019s 49 percent plus Ramaswamy\u2019s 10 percent in the original poll would account for nearly all of Trump\u2019s 60 percent support in the two-way race with DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, it is worth noting that among Republican presidential candidates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/vivek-ramaswamy-lands-miami-support-trump-drops-fiery-ultimatum-2024-candidates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ramaswamy alone<\/a> has rallied to Trump\u2019s support and pledged to issue a pardon if the former president is convicted on federal charges.<\/p>\n<p>Under \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vivek2024.com\/america-first-2-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Policy Vision<\/a>\u201d on Ramaswamy\u2019s campaign website, the headline reads: \u201cAmerica First 2.0.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the same page, the following line appears below a video of Ramaswamy: \u201cVivek\u2019s 25 Policy Commitments to Take America First further than Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To put it mildly, Ramaswamy appears to have no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rino-adam-kinzinger-sits-board-organization-federal-investigation-absent-paper-trail-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RINO<\/a> DNA.<\/p>\n<p>The new Echelon poll, coupled with Ramaswamy\u2019s America First 2.0, suggests that a growing minority of GOP voters wants even more Trump than Trump himself can deliver.<\/p>\n<p>When Ramaswamy no longer appears as an option, those voters settle for the original America First candidate.<\/p>\n<p>The takeaway here could not be more fascinating.<\/p>\n<p>Republican voters have gone full-on populist \u2014 nearly two-thirds of them, at least.<\/p>\n<p>They have grown tired of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/josh-hammer-the-end-of-the-unipolar-moment\/\" title=\"Josh Hammer: The End of the Unipolar Moment\">regime-change wars<\/a> and stale paeans to free trade or balanced budgets.<\/p>\n<p>They have aligned themselves against a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tucker-carlson-says-system-fair-hunter-biden-charged\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corrupt ruling class<\/a> that serves only its donors\u2019 interests.<\/p>\n<p>It might only be one poll, but Ramaswamy\u2019s surge stands as one more piece of evidence that the Old Bush-Cheney-McCain-Romney-Ryan Republican Party has no future.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/surprise-candidate-track-overtake-desantis-reaching-double-digits-gop-polls\/\">Surprise Candidate on Track to Overtake DeSantis After Reaching Double Digits in GOP Polls<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A two-way Republican presidential primary race may have a surprise contender.
