White House Press Secretary<\/p>\n<h3>Karine Jean-Pierre<\/h3>\n<p>was among the more than three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-bars-biden-press-secretary-from-flagging-posts-for-big-tech-to-censor-two-years-after-admin-bragged-about-it\/\" title=\"Judge prohibits Biden press secretary from flagging posts for Big Tech censorship, despite previous administration's pride in the practice.\">dozen administration officials specifically named<\/a> who are now prohibited from engaging in collaborative censorship.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-846983569\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-99f6bc73e211b23cfd81f472b9fdf9b5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-99f6bc73e211b23cfd81f472b9fdf9b5\"><\/div>\n<p>Republican attorneys general in Louisiana and Missouri filed the lawsuit last year claiming White House efforts to get major online platforms to censor certain speech about Covid-19 vaccines, among other things, were unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>Two years ago, Biden\u2019s then-Press Secretary Jen Psaki bragged about the administration\u2019s relationship with major platforms. She <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/15\/white-house-brags-about-colluding-with-tech-oligarchs-to-suppress-dissent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told reporters<\/a> the Biden administration was often \u201cflagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in regular touch with these social media platforms and those engagements typically happen through members of our senior staff, but also members of our COVID-19 team,\u201d Psaki said from the White House podium, and later <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/19\/white-house-says-nothing-off-the-table-when-it-comes-to-using-big-tech-to-silence-dissent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">doubled down<\/a> on the corporate-government collusion.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki\u2019s immediate successor, Jean-Pierre, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/white-house-slammed-pledging-keep-close-eye-misinformation-twitter-absolutely-insane\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">added<\/a> in November that the White House was keeping a \u201cclose eye\u201d on \u201cmisinformation\u201d on Twitter.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-677185c1dfd50f1ce99ff58ef28cf435 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-677185c1dfd50f1ce99ff58ef28cf435\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe have always been very clear that when it comes to social media platforms it is their responsibility to make sure that when it comes to misinformation, when it comes to the hate that we\u2019re seeing, that they take action, that they continue to take action,\u201d Jean-Pierre said. \u201cAgain, we\u2019re all keeping a close eye on this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Tuesday\u2019s preliminary ruling, Judge Doughty cited the \u201csubstantial evidence\u201d presented to the court of a \u201cfar-reaching and widespread censorship campaign\u201d to warrant the injunction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian \u2018Ministry of Truth,&#8217;\u201d Doughty wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the allegations made by plaintiffs are true, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reason-to-celebrate-on-july-4-judge-struck-blow-for-freedom-against-biden-admin-big-tech-censorship\/\" title=\"July 4: Judge Strikes Blow for Freedom Against Biden Admin, Big Tech Censorship\">present case arguably involves<\/a> the most massive attack against free speech in United States\u2019 history,\u201d the Trump-appointed judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23867004-08917380420?responsive=1&#038;title=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">added<\/a>. \u201cIn their attempts to suppress alleged disinformation, the Federal Government, and particularly the Defendants named here, are alleged to have blatantly ignored the First Amendment\u2019s right to free speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e28141dbd1defba874600ed7a980b8fa fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e28141dbd1defba874600ed7a980b8fa\"><\/div>\n<p>Jean-Pierre, along with dozens of administration officials, is now explicitly prohibited from colluding with social media companies \u201cfor the purpose of urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech posted on social-media platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With exceptions for posts involving content such as criminal activity or threats, the White House may no longer flag posts for censorship or pressure companies to suppress users\u2019 free speech.<\/p>\n<p>Several executive agencies are also banned from engaging in the same conduct, including the Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Census Bureau, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, the Department of Justice, and the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Pierre was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/reporter-confronts-karine-jean-pierre-on-labeling-people-conspiracy-theorists-over-lab-leak-theory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pressed<\/a> in February by Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich on previously labeling those who suggested the novel coronavirus came from a Chinese lab as \u201cconspiracy theorists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was not so long ago a point where anyone asking the question of whether a lab leak was a credible theory that should be looked into \u2014 a lot of those people were derided as fringe, you know, conspiracy theorists,\u201d Heinrich said at a White House press briefing. \u201cSo are there lessons learned? You know, looking back about how we discuss theories when we don\u2019t have all of the answers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president is asking his team to do everything that they can to figure out where it originated because of what could potentially happen next because of the potential of having another pandemic,\u201d Jean-Pierre responded, after insisting \u201cthere is no consensus\u201d about the virus\u2019 origins.<\/p>\n<p>The question was presented after The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/covid-origin-china-lab-leak-807b7b0a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> on the Energy Department\u2019s conclusion that the lab-leak theory was the most likely explanation for the novel coronavirus.
