They argued that their bill would \u201crebalance\u201d and \u201cstop extreme partisanship\u201d within the Court.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe Supreme Court\u2019s decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-push-bill-to-place-term-limits-on-supreme-court-justices\/\" title=\"Democrats propose bill for term limits on Supreme Court Justices.\">block student debt relief<\/a> will put many hardworking Americans at risk of default and will be a disaster for our economy,\u201d Khanna said. \u201cOur Founding Fathers intended for lifetime appointments to ensure impartiality. The decision today demonstrates how justices have become partisan and out of step with the American public. I\u2019m proud to reintroduce The Supreme Court Term Limits and Regular Appointments Act to implement term limits to rebalance the Court and stop extreme partisanship.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Beyer argued that it is time to implement term limits because of \u201crecent partisan decisions\u201d which destroyed \u201chistoric protections for reproductive rights\u201d pointing towards the Court\u2019s decision to overturn <em>Roe v Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cFor many Americans, the Supreme Court is a distant, secretive, unelected body that can make drastic changes in their lives without any accountability,\u201d said Rep. Don Beyer. \u201cRecent partisan decisions by the Supreme Court that destroyed historic protections for reproductive rights, voting rights and more have undermined public trust in the Court \u2013 even as inappropriate financial relationships between justices and conservative donors raised new questions about its integrity. I have long supported reforming the Supreme Court to limit terms to end lifetime tenures and ensure the Court remains a fair and impartial arbiter of justice. Our bill would achieve this and help restore balance to a heavily politicized Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>President Joe Biden was recently asked what if he would support reform of the Supreme Court, and if he was worried about the Conservative majority \u201cdoing too much harm.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWell, I think they may do too much harm,\u201d the president answered. \u201cBut I think if we start the process of trying to expand the court, we\u2019re going to politicize it maybe forever in a way that is not healthy, that you can\u2019t get back.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The reintroduced Bill would also \u201climit the Senate\u2019s advice and consent authority in relation to the appointment of Justices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
