Kennedy Jr.<\/a>, whose support has been in double digits in some <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/president-primary-d\/2024\/national\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">primary polls<\/a>, and spiritual guru Marianne Williamson.<\/p>\n<p>However, Schafer said they \u201caren\u2019t the right ring partners to prepare him for what will be his last electoral contest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/politico-columnist-has-so-little-faith-in-biden-that-hes-afraid-joe-will-just-die-one-evening\/\" title=\"Politico columnist doubts Biden's abilities, fears sudden demise.\">tepid approval rating<\/a> that puts him near to Donald Trump at his worst, Biden needs a primary opponent who can prepare him for the 2024 general election, somebody who can make him prove that he can still run the traps and beat whichever Republican he faces,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Biden can\u2019t vanquish a worthy Democrat in primary season, he has no business entering the general.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Politico writer then threw down the gauntlet, urging Democrats to have the \u201cguts\u201d to run a serious primary challenger.<\/p>\n<p>Schafer conceded that former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-becomes-first-sign-presidential-promise-american-women-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 the current GOP front-runner \u2014 appears to be more battle-ready for the election season than Biden is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSay what you will about Trump, who just turned 77, but he seems as competent (read that however you wish) as he was in 2016,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sri-lanka-protesters-demand-president-resign-in-los-angeles-new-york\/\" title=\"Sri Lanka Protesters Demand President Resign in Los Angeles, New York\">columnist observed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe GOP is largely lining up behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2024-gop-candidate-says-open-trumps-vice-president-will-take-call\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a>, but at least a growing number of ambitious Republicans are forcing him to run a real primary campaign instead of bowing to him,\u201d Schafer wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Many liberals on Twitter were aghast at his comments.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Politico needs to primary their senior media writer<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 chris lindsay  (@clindz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/clindz\/status\/1675915856747057152?\">July 3, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Not only no but hell no. You should have to fight for the right to lead your party.
