Someone had deceitfully filed paperwork in his name to run for the state&#8217;s 6th Congressional District.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I have not filed. We&#8217;ve reported this matter to the FEC for fraud,&#8221; Cox wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have made no such filing and Valerie and I have made no decision yet,&#8221; the former state delegate wrote in an earlier statement on Facebook. &#8220;Apparently, a far-left new Delegate from Montgomery County has issued a press release that I&#8217;ve filed, and apparently, the media says someone has filed my name. I did not do so and intend to take action to find out who did.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Current Representation and Cox&#8217;s Political Journey<\/h3>\n<p>Currently, Maryland&#8217;s 6th District is represented by third-term Rep. David Trone (D-Md.).<\/p>\n<p>In May, Trone announced his intention to vacate the seat and run for Sen. Ben Cardin&#8217;s (D-Md.) Senate seat upon Cardin&#8217;s retirement at the end of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-thanks-ill-be-skipping-the-inauguration\/\" title=\"No Thanks, I\u2019ll Be Skipping the Inauguration\">current term<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cox, a former state delegate, gained the endorsement of former President Donald Trump in his 2022 bid for the governorship. Despite defeating the more moderate Kelly Schulz in the GOP primary, he was ultimately defeated by the state&#8217;s current Democratic Governor, Wes Moore.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to running for governor, Cox sought Maryland&#8217;s 8th Congressional District seat in 2016. Although he won the primary, he lost the race to Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin.<\/p>\n<h3>A Vocal Critic and Legal Actions<\/h3>\n<p>During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cox emerged as a vocal critic of former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan&#8217;s policies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-fda-head-mask-mandates-should-end-in-wholesale-fashion-officials-need-to-rollback-restrictions-to-keep-integrity\/\" title=\"Former FDA Head: Mask Mandates Should End In \u2018Wholesale Fashion,\u2019 Officials Need To Rollback Restrictions To Keep \u2018Integrity\u2019\">including mask mandates<\/a> and stay-at-home orders.<\/p>\n<p>In the state&#8217;s General Assembly, he even introduced articles of impeachment against Hogan.
