Can we answer the question the anthem asks?<\/p>\n<p>I began to wonder how many times we hear this song. I started my research with sports leagues.<\/p>\n<h3>Sports Leagues and the Anthem<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The NFL has 272 regular season games and 49 pre-season games. Add 13 playoff games, and we have 334 times the song is played every year in the NFL.<\/li>\n<li>MLB is more difficult. There are 2,430 games in the regular season. The number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/op-ed-the-national-anthem-asks-us-a-question-what-is-the-answer-in-2023\/\" title=\"Op-Ed: National Anthem's Question in 2023: What's the Answer?\">playoff games varies<\/a>, but if there are roughly 42 games in the post-season, that means the question is asked about 2,472 times in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/one-impressive-play-young-baseball-player-robs-opposing-team-home-run\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">baseball<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Now add the NBA and NHL, minor league baseball, women\u2019s professional sports, college and high school, NASCAR and Little League. It is easy to say the anthem is played tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of times every year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This song asks each one of us to examine our legacy as patriots.<\/p>\n<p>Do we realize that Francis Scott Key asked every generation the same question?<\/p>\n<p>It is found in the very last two lines\u2026 \u201cO say, does that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mavericks-have-stopped-playing-national-anthem-at-mark-cubans-direction\/\" title=\"Mavericks Have Stopped Playing National Anthem At Mark Cuban\u2019s Direction\">star-spangled banner<\/a> yet wave o\u2019er the land of the free and the home of the brave?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How do we answer that?<\/p>\n<p>We see cancel culture, a two<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bill-barr-if-youre-appalled-about-unequal-justice-get-joe-biden-out-of-office\/\" title=\"Bill Barr: If You\u2019re Appalled About Unequal Justice, Get Joe Biden Out Of Office\">-tier justice system<\/a>, attacks on children and families, investigation after investigation, antifa and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-border-patrol-cuts-wire-laid-texas-allows-illegal-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open borders<\/a>, to begin with.<\/p>\n<p>Do we still live in the land of the free and the home of the brave?<\/p>\n<p>Let each one of us honestly answer that question this year.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-national-anthem-asks-us-question-answer-2023\/\">Op-Ed: The National Anthem Asks Us a Question &#8211; What Is the Answer in 2023?<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was raised a patriot!
